Not sure if this is just me needing to take a deep breath and see it from his side/cut him some slack. NC so can’t be linked to other threads as extremely outing detail coming up.

He’s been working from home this week - high powered financial position. We are surrounded by chaos and boxes as due to move on Friday (that’s another story...) and we have a dog and a VERY bloody energetic toddler. It’s been extremely stressful for all of us - he’s been working loads and therefore obviously not helping out with DS. No problem there. But trying to wrangle a cooped, bored out of his mind 21 month old around the boxes and the video conferences has been very stressful for me. On top of Whcih I now having fucking mastitis. Did I mention I’m pregnant?!

TodayDH has disappeared for a while. I assumed to the loo or whatever. Nope - he was hiding out in our son’s room to “chill”.

AIBU to think we are supposed to be pulling together not fucking hiding out?! I tried to see the funny side but he genuinely came back to living room with some pitiful woe is me I’m so tired shit and I am so irritated.

Don't understand why you don't use any spare time to sort through the boxes though

We are moving. Next week. The boxes ARE sorted in that they are packing awaiting moving, should that happen!

Thank you for all the advice - very helpful. Have spoken to DH to explain he is obviously always entitled to time off, as am I, but he just needs to plan it with me rather than hiding like a child. He’s going to have a couple of hours now to FaceTime friends and chill out.

If anyone has advice for mastitis btw I am all ears. I haven’t wanted to call GP or otherwise for antibiotics (who knows if I can have any due to pregnancy anyway) as they are overstretched. Currently have cabbage leaf in bra!

Mastitis - go and have a long relaxing bath. If no bath, a long relaxing shower.
Towards the end of it, massage the tender part. Express but be gentle.
Go and feed your lo (presume you are bf"ing!) from the affected side.
Get more rest. Mastitis often a sign of being stressed/run down.
Tomorrow: rest rest rest
You can take certain antibiotics when pg.

What does he say when you discuss this with him?

FizzyGreenWater · 21/03/2020 18:42

Not that 'high powered', I'll bet.

Successful people rarely act like toddlers.

Stuffandnonsense100 · 21/03/2020 18:54

@fizzygreenwater

Honestly, he has a pretty serious job and makes a ridiculous amount of money. He’s just a man child at times.

He apologised and has done dinner and bath time whilst
I had a nap. Have started shivering etc this is honestly the worst possible time to get fucking mastitis!!!

@Superlooper

Thank you! I will feed DS to sleep then do bath and massage. The problem is due to Late in pregnancy and drying milk/colostrum there is barely anything coming when I squeeze, and DS is therefore only really comfort sucking so I am concerned he will not he able to get rid of it. I have only had this once in 21 months and only then for 2 hours as he was such a ferocious feeder he destroyed it after that length of time.

Have you got a breast pump? If so, use it after a nice hot shower.

Stuffandnonsense100 · 21/03/2020 19:37

Fml asked DH to run bath whilst I was getting DS - he forgot! Want to cry! Sitting in an empty bath whilst it fills up around me and feeling like a muppet.

And yes I know the whole world has it worse than me!

Stuffandnonsense100 · 21/03/2020 19:38

@TorkTorkBam

I have but I never liked it and stopped pumping 18 months ago because I found it hurt. Should I still get it out and try do you think?

GP calling me at 9 tomorrow and has sent antibiotics to local chemist to pick up Monday - call at 9 is to advise whether or not I take them. Hopefully I won’t need to.

I would take antibiotics if there safe in pregnancy, they make you feel so much better I think you need them as it can turn into a breast abscess and shivering is from A temperature they should of given them to you today really. None of the self help tips worked for me only antibs & I had it twice. It’s hideous. Flowers

OhCaptain · 21/03/2020 20:25

Are you laying it on a bit now, @Stuffandnonsense100?

You don’t have to sit in an empty bath Confused could you have run the bath while he was making dinner?

Oh leave her alone! I don’t think you have had mastitis that bad have you ?? because I physically couldn’t care for myself my mum had to come round and pass my baby to me for feeds. She’s ill pregnant and has a toddler I think that warrants crying that your husband forgot to run your bath & also ever heard of pregnancy hormones ?

Stuffandnonsense100 · 21/03/2020 21:34

@OhCaptain

My son’s bathtime was after his dinner and if you read my updates I had a nap during both of those! I was being a bit tongue in cheek as feeling sorry for myself - I did really sit in my bath as it filled up 😆

@Xx12345

Bath and a serious massage does seem
To have helped somewhat - not shivery any more. Let’s see how I feel after what I hope will be a good night’s sleep. Doctor in her email mentioned going to get ultrasound on breast at a and e which I would really rather not do now either! Thanks for the advice x

I think it’s a good idea to have a bit of time apart. Take your turn to chill too
