To think my dad is ridiculous?

My dad lives in a council property.
Yesterday he had a electrical check and the electrician has forgot to put a socket back on the wall so all wires are out.
I said to my dad call the office today and explain and they will send a electrician out.
He said he isn't going to explain the situation he is just going to ring up and ask for the electrician who visited to ring him.
Then he will tell him off record incase it gets him in trouble.
Aibu to think that's ridiculous?

Seems like your dad is a nice and thoughtful man! If he wants do it I'd just leave him to it. Either it'll work out and the electrician might be grateful for the thought or he won't be able to contact him and will just have to tell the housing people anyway. It's not really a big deal, surely?

It is because if he can't get through to the electrician he is going to attempt and fix it himself.
Rather than just ring the housing office and a electrician come out.
There's no way the housing office would do it anyway.

If he doesn’t want to get the electrician in trouble just tell the office that some tools were left behind. He’ll be contacted straight away guaranteed.

Well I think the housing need to be told? What if the electrician did that in a house with young kids and it wasn't noticed until it was to late?...

I work for a local authority and part of it involves taking these kind of calls. We wouldn’t send anyone for that. You have to say what the problem is or we won’t send anyone and you might get a bill if you lie and say it’s something else.
