My plan is to reread all Terry Pratchett books. I think I need a laugh.
Anyone else got any recommendations?

DP & I are finally going to finish watching Game of Thrones (currently on series 2)

Started watching 1 episode a night before Christmas but haven't watched any for a month or so...may have to start again as I can't remember who's who

RusholmeRuffian · 20/03/2020 18:39

I'm rewatching ER. It's on All 4. Over 300 episodes so that should keep me busy.

Cohle · 20/03/2020 18:42

Bosch is good if you like detective shows.

Book wise I would recommend Outlander or the Into the Wilderness series, if you like historical romance.

Patrick O'Brian is a great suggestion too.

I8toys · 20/03/2020 19:44

Spooks is on iplayer - never watched it

Bluebird29 · 24/03/2020 13:17

Luther mmm now that is a suggestion! 🥰😍😍😍

Lucifer, on Netflix with Tom Ellis in the title role.

SerenDippitty · 24/03/2020 13:35

Not Going Out would seem appropriate!

IamRhubarbBikini · 24/03/2020 13:39

If you’re a Pratchett fan have you watched Good Omens?

Barmaid101 · 24/03/2020 13:41

I’ve recently bought the famous five collection for my daughter so plan on reliving my childhood and re reading them all

MsPepperPotts · 24/03/2020 13:54

Oh wow I am definitely going to watch Spooks on iPlayer...brilliant!

detective shows -

Mindhunter - set in 70s - when they first set up the Behavioural Analysis Unit - Netflix
Bosch - Amazon Prime - Titus Welliver - is so good in this.
True Detective - Amazon Prime
Person of Interest - Amazon

PenisBeakerDipper · 24/03/2020 13:57

Year of Wonders is fab I read it years ago and still think of it often.

Just started watching Self Made on Netflix about the first black female millionaire and really enjoying it.

SinkGirl · 24/03/2020 14:00

Justified on Prime
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul on Netflix
The Shield on All 4 (best TV series ever)
Sneaky Pete on Prime

SinkGirl · 24/03/2020 14:03

Definitely Mindhunter - also Manhunt: Unabomber (also Netflix)

Documentary series
Making A Murderer (Netflix)
Wild Wild Country (Netflix)
The Staircase (Netflix)

If The Jinx is on anything (possibly Sky box sets as its HBO) then watch that - incredible documentary

We are watching Tiger King on Netflix and it’s perfect for right now as it’s even more surreal and crazy than lockdown

Bluebird29 · 24/03/2020 14:04

I’ve watched all the person of interest already. Haven’t watched Omens yet will add it to my list!

GnomeDePlume · 24/03/2020 14:08

Television:

Unforgotten
Waking The Dead

Detective stories

The Falco books by Lindsey Davis. Set in Roman times. The history is facinating. There are 20 books in the first series and 7 (soon to be 8) in the second series.

The Fethering mysteries by Simon Brett. Light and good humoured.

Loads more suggestions to come but DH has told me it is time to go and exercise on the allotment!

Riverhouse · 24/03/2020 15:02

I like shows that are easy to watch and not scary at night before sleeping

Death in Paradise on BBC iPlayer
White Collar on Netflix is good, some stories based on real life.
Pyshc on Amazon Prime was a big hit, I didn't think it was good but somehow binge watched all the series Grin

LeaderBee · 24/03/2020 15:59

Books; How about "The Stand" or "The Andromeda Strain"?

slashlover · 24/03/2020 17:18

Any shows suitable to watch with 12 year old?

All 5 series of Merlin are on iPlayer, LOVE that show.

EmpressMcSchnozzle · 24/03/2020 22:49

@amaryl Once is pretty 12-year old friendly, so is The Good Witch and When Calls The Heart.

Also Glee, Lost In Space, Anne With An 'E' (mainly), The Good Place (mainly), and a few films that I think are still on there include Stardust and the Princess Bride.

EmpressMcSchnozzle · 24/03/2020 22:52

@Bluebird29 - Vera (worth it for the settings alone but then I would say that given I grew up in Newcastle)
The Dublin Murders (if they're still on, though you might have to watch them twice)
Hinterland
Wallander
Safe; The Stranger (though you'll need to suspend your disbelief a bit or those last two).

Purpletigers · 24/03/2020 22:56

I’m watching Homeland and going to reread Harry Potter . Also going to teach myself how to crochet .

Mypathtriedtokillme · 24/03/2020 22:56

Books:
St Mary’s Chronicles
Rivers of London series going to start from the start before I read the new one.

Purpletigers · 24/03/2020 22:57

Grimm is excellent and would appeal to a 12 year old . Not sure of age restrictions . My daughter loved it and she loves Lucifer but she’s 14 .

MummyInTheNecropolis · 24/03/2020 23:01

I’ve just finished the tiger king on Netflix. Completely insane true crime documentary based in America and centred around lions and tigers. Gets crazier with every episode, it’s hard to believe it’s all true!

CarolinaPink · 24/03/2020 23:11

For those with children, or anyone who'd like to relive their youth, Enid Blyton's 'Malory Towers' has been dramatised and there are (I think) 14 episodes (the whole first series) available on BBC iPlayer. Great stuff!

And another vote for the fantastic Patrick O'Brien :)
