Hi I've posted on health but not getting any traffic. Please delete if not allowed.
im hoping someone can relate. I've been putting off going to the gp.
We went to florida 18 months ago and did a lot of walking. Whilst there I got some symptoms of what I thought was a uti. Burning down below, feeling like I need the loo a lot. Anyway it passed.
A few months later it returned. I went to the gp. Tested urine, no infection. Went away.

About 6 weeks ago it came back but this time it has stayed. Pharmacist dipped my urine, all clear again. I've been googling and I'm confused as to what it could be.

Goes away during the night.
Gets worse as day goes on.
Worse if sit for long time or stand for long time.
Ache all in pelvis, vulva, anus, buttocks, down back of thighs
Feel like I need to urinate
Tender when I press on pelvic area
Goes away during period

Any ideas? I've looked with a mirror and i do have some varicose veins and my perineum is blue. So I was wondering if it could be that with me being overweight. I also sit a lot due to a back problem.
I have dead nerves in my buttock due to slipped dics in back. Have no feeling in leg permanently but I don't think this is linked.

Menstrual cycle ok. Had transvaginal ultrasound last year, no cysts, fibroids, etc. Help!

I am not a medic, so I've no idea but it's an odd combination of symptoms. I would absolutely get it checked out, given the slipped disc my first worried thought was cauda equina, but that is usually acute and catastrophic. Get it checked if you can.

Cystitis - has that been ruled out??

pooopypants · 18/03/2020 19:41

YANBU but you may struggle for an appointment

Bella2020 · 18/03/2020 19:46

I know GP surgeries are busy but this has been going on way too long now and you really need to see your doctor. It sounds very distressing. You'd be perfectly reasonable to ask for an appointment.

Hope you can get a diagnosis, and some treatment, very soon, OP.

FloofenHoofen · 18/03/2020 19:47

Vulvodynia. There's a chronic condition of this where touch can make it come on as well. I do suffer from this and it does feel a lot like a UTI.
I'm also going for a scan to make sure everything is ok as well.

Perianal haematoma?

TitianaTitsling · 18/03/2020 19:49

Posted too soon! Absolutely horrifically painful when l had one, couldnt walk and had to get help transferring in and out of the shower!

winterbear990 · 18/03/2020 19:56

This is probably very unlikely in your case, but I had those symptoms before being diagnosed with a mild cystocele (pelvic organ prolapse)

This is a valid reason for seeing the doctor, or at least having a telephone consultation if you're avoiding the surgery. I feel for you, it sounds awful.

Timewastingideas · 18/03/2020 20:39

I know it might sound silly but could it be constipation? I suffer with constipation a lot and it can press on my bladder and it hurts and also makes me need to wee a lot. Either way you need to follow this up it could be many things, hopefully nothing- good luck.

I had a problem with recurrent UTIs that completely disrupted my life. My GPs' surgery was clueless. I paid to see a private doctor and they successfully diagnosed me and the problem was sorted almost immediately. Best £250 I have ever spent. Good luck. YANBU.

WorriedMummyNow · 18/03/2020 21:07

This sounds potentially like pelvic girdle pain too. Get yourself checked out. You should be able to refer yourself for physiotherapy if appropriate too. Yanbu though. It's really painful!

Savingshoes · 18/03/2020 21:36

Yanbu. Also, referral to women's physio health.
Suggestion, search Jilly Bond.

jalopy · 18/03/2020 22:15

Interstitial cystitis?

IrisAnon · 18/03/2020 22:23

I'm having something similar at the moment. 3 rounds of antibiotics and still burning, but not so much when I pee. One culture slightly positive, the rest negative and so doc is wondering if it is something else. I saw the doc on Monday and now I'm trying oestrogen cream as it could be to do with peri menopause. Sadly, the cream is burning me even worse than the UTI symptoms..... but hoping it will settle in a few days. Waiting for a referral to a urologist.
The docs are busy, but in my area they will see you if necessary and can't be done over the phone, provided you don't have CV symptoms.
You're in pain, so speak to your doctor - they'll fully appreciate that CV isn't the only health concern going.

Passanotherjaffacake · 18/03/2020 22:33

I had recurrent UTIs for many years - went to a private urologist who did a dilation and it cured me of about 3 years of constantly recurring UTIs. Best money ever spent.

I thought that the dip tests aren’t that helpful for some chronic UTIs:

www.theguardian.com/science/2017/apr/28/uti-test-used-by-gps-gives-wrong-results-in-at-least-a-fifth-of-cases-study-claims

This may have been debunked but I would definitely have a call with your go and see if you can start the referral process. Sure they will just ask you to pop in a sample to the sample box at the surgery to be sent away and cultured.

Very best of luck. Xx
