DS and nursery

Not really a AIBU but don't know where else to post.
DS started nursery a few weeks ago, just one morning a week, Friday just gone he was sick (cold) and he's due to go again tomorrow.
He's still not 100% but better than he was.
I'm not sure to send him or not.
I'm off sick at mo anyway, so it would be a bit annoying for me to have to get up to drop him off at 7am, but also deferring it wouldn't do him any favours in getting used to it, not to mention we've already paid for the month!

Wwyd?

Just to say DS is 18 months, first day he cried when I left, and cried when DH picked him up.
Feel so guilty about nursery full stop anyway.

He probably didn't cry the whole time though did he?

How is he in himself? Does he have a temperature?

Daffie19 · 16/03/2020 18:22

No, he didn't. They did send pics and he seemed OK in the end.
He's OK in himself. No temp just a bit whingy.
Also sleep gone to pot, he was sleeping through, now not settled at all at night and waking most the night.
Hoping just an 18 month Regression!

One morning a week is very little time there. Kids tend to settle better if they go at least two days.
Someone said to me - it would be a bit odd if they didn’t cry when settling - which I thought was fair point.
Try take him if you can on Friday, you want to build some consistency.

I know, I can't afford 2 days at the moment and just need help for the 1 flexible day I'm at work.
He will go up to 2 days soon though as my DH may not have Mondays off much longer.
Think ill try and take him tomorrow, from now on he will be going Tuesdays as they've set my days Mon-weds at work.
Thank u.

Starting nursery is hard, for us as well as them Flowers

Your DS will get many a cold and I know my nursery doesnt turn kids away with colds. As long as he has no temp I would send him (it's a benefit for you both).

And the crying at drop off/pick up? A cunning ploy to pull at your heartstrings. My DD still does it 6 months into nursery but I hear her stop as soon as the door is shut (and she is apparently a big cheesy grinner and loves it during the day).
