What's that OP, you need a patio? I'm sure some MNetters will pop round and give you a hand. No jury would ever convict......

Notwiththeseknees · 16/03/2020 12:07

Poopy I dream of an estimate from Mumsnet Landscaping Services Ltd...... Grin

My Dh just is the noisiest eater.. bloody raspberries in yoghurt can hear the seeds crunching make him go in the next room ... he reckons cos skinny has no sound insulation in cheeks :)
Never mind the scrapping..,

Chesterfuckingdrorrs · 16/03/2020 12:33

This is my DH, just as well we have plain bowls or the pattern would be scrapped off.
He's the same with yoghurt pots, crunching crisps and slurping tea. In fact the tea one is the worst.........slllluuuuuuurrrrpp.....aaaahhhhh. And repeatAngry

Thankfully we will both avoid enforced lockdown (emergency services) or else there'd be a murder!

mummaminnie · 16/03/2020 12:37

When DH eats spaghetti or tagliatelle, he twirls the fork, puts the pasta on a spoon and then scrapes the spoon with the fork. Aaaaaagh! It's akin to scraping nails down a blackboard. 😖

cjt110 · 16/03/2020 12:55

My MIL does this with whatever miniscule food type is left on her plate or in her bowl.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 16/03/2020 13:18

Sounds like my dad.
Him eating breakfast cereal - pat pat pat it all flat, then scrape scrape, then pat pat again followed by more scraping. When he finally gets to the dregs the noise is so loud.

Brefugee · 16/03/2020 14:06

he scrapes his fork with his teeth

that is grounds for divorce. As is eating dessert from a teaspoon, filling it full then putting it in your mouth and scraping some off as you withdraw the spoon that then has half a load on it. JUST FUCKING WELL EAT PROPERLY

I like the idea of a "mumsnet cleanup crew" called Mumsnet Landscaping Services Ltd...

HavenDilemma · 16/03/2020 14:55

Just buy your husbands some kids bowls, plates and cutlery!

HavenDilemma · 16/03/2020 14:55

Princess pink, naturally

emmathedilemma · 16/03/2020 16:59

My dad eats dry cereal and he's actually scratched the enamel on one of my bowls doing this! 😡

Everley · 16/03/2020 17:04

I currently have headphones in with music blasting just so I can’t hear my husband scraping a bowl with a spoon. I’d rather aggravate my tinnitus than listen to him. I read this thread at the perfect time, glad to know I’m not irrational!

Runnerduck34 · 16/03/2020 17:09

Ooh i thought it was just me! Tap of spoon against bowl, slurp of milk, manages to hit spoon against his teeth then repeat ...
I thought i was just irritable but honestly it drives me mad, i have now eliminated the slurping stage by suggesting greek yogurt wirh muesli instead of milk, now if only I can convince him.to use a rubber spoon...

CSIblonde · 16/03/2020 17:48

Plastic bowls for cereal are the only way to go. I can't bear clanking & scraping first thing in the morning. There are some nice retro ones if you look, like the Habitat ones I had cereal in growing up in the 70's.

Herts6789 · 16/03/2020 21:21

Same here but he clanks his spoon around and scrapes it on the bottom of his mug when stirring to dissolve the sugar.....for what feels like an HOUR

annabell22 · 17/03/2020 04:19

My mum bought my dad some plastic cereal bowls for exactly this purpose. He gets up a long time before her and she couldn't bear it any longer (they celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary next week, so are obviously prepared to do whatever it takes to stay together!)

When drinking, I have a louder than average swallow. I can't do anything about it, but DH has remarked on it. Usually the tv is on loud enough to cover it, but it does make me self-conscious if we are in a quiet place.
