What is your question?

user1473878824 · 15/03/2020 22:55

Is this your son? Give him a bit of a bollocking.

TheCanterburyWhales · 15/03/2020 22:57

Ground him.
Make him clear his own puke next time.
I have a 16 year old and am a bit bemused at the "knew he was going to drink but told him no spirits" thing.

BeetrootRocks · 15/03/2020 22:59

I'm of an age where they started letting you into the pub at 14/15, drinking cheap cider in the park was standard and drinking till you puked at weekend was pretty standard.

So from my perspective this is upsetting for a parent but pretty normal for a teen.

Sorry not much help. I just don't think it's unusual for a 16yo to get too pissed.

I think I'd say it's not safe as they're vulnerable and made me worry.

goldface · 15/03/2020 23:01

Yes my son
@The Canterbury whales - I mean that I know at 16 it's not unsurprising that they might try and sneak a beer or a cider into a party but we talked about the specific danger of spirits?

Ground a 16 year old? Good luck with that.

PawPawNoodle · 16/03/2020 01:05

I also drank with my friends at the weekend at 15/16 - the one time I came home very drunk and vomity, I was told that it was disappointing that I'd done that and given a reminder of the danger I could have put myself in, but the vomiting and hangover was punishment enough. It had more resonance than being punished.

Imstillskanking · 16/03/2020 01:26

Make him clear his own puke next time.

Absofrigginlutely do this. I still remember the smell of having to clear up my puke from my step dad's car back in the 90s. Lessons were learned that day.

Huh?
Why would that be a problem?

imcold · 16/03/2020 01:41

I hear you! Mum to a 16 year old here. He was out last night and I text him randomly to see what he was up to and received no reply. Very odd from a kid who's phone is stuck to his hand. Panicked and called him, husband looked him up on 'find my iPhone' and we could see he was not where he said he would be.
He's home now and very remorseful although I think it's what he wants us to hear!
