AIBU to think Chris Evans (actor one) is a bit of a knob

Last night DH and I watched Knives Out, which was great and I thought Chris Evans was good in it and extremely handsome. So I watched some stuff on YouTube about him and while he mainly comes over as affable, he also seems to have this horrible forced laugh most of the time and when he’s not doing that he looks pretty pissed off. There was an Irish guy interviewing him and he asked him if he had ever been to Ireland (I think he is part Irish) and he was all like “no but thanks for reminding me I have ignored that part of my heritage” and totally shut the guy down.

I also thought he gross when the Avengers cast were playing Chinese Whispers (in Jimmy Kimmel or something) and he said “I like to fuck girls up the butt“ to Chris Hemsworth who was like WTF!

I think there was also an incident where he and Jeremy Renner referred to a female Marvel character as a total slut and a whore Shock

I don’t know he just seems to come across like an oversized immature 38 year old frat boy.

Tell me IABU and he is actually amazing and I’ve misunderstood him.

He was good in Star Trek, but I’m not sure about his as Thor...

Leaannb · 15/03/2020 21:13

@AvonBarksdale99 You just jave everything confused. Chris Pine was in Star Trek,Chris Pratt was in Parks and Rec and Guardians of The Galaxy and it was Liam Hemsworth as Thor

Leaannb · 15/03/2020 21:15

Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Sorry about that I was talking to my son Liam when I posted that

QuestionableMouse · 15/03/2020 21:19

This thread is fucking hilarious... 😂😂😂

HeresMe · 15/03/2020 21:21

Chinese whispers is now racist, fuck off and then fuck off some more.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 15/03/2020 21:22

Chris hemsworth is in star trek. He plays Kirk's father right at the beginning.

But it's chris pine who plays Kirk.

Just to confuse things further.

HunterAngel · 15/03/2020 21:34

As I understand Chris Evans has problems with anxiety, he suffers from panic attacks and that’s why he tends not to do solo press work. Definitely don’t think he was accused of animal cruelty, from what I’ve seen he seems to adore his dog.

BeetrootRocks · 15/03/2020 21:34

The reason it's used is not complimentary to Chinese people! See other poster above.

I'm not saying don't use it. Or that any posters are racist, it's a very common figure of speech.

Like a lot of things when you find out where it came from you sometimes think oh, hmm. I'll avoid that one. It's up to individuals though obviously.

Chris Evans was good in a film called sunshine, which is a really good film, if anyone wants to look at him and likes creepy sci fi stories!

Chocolateandamaretto · 15/03/2020 21:42

This thread is bonkers! So many different ideas going on at once....Chinese whispers is thoroughly racist. Chris Evans is yummy Grin

That is all!

SmallPinkBear · 15/03/2020 21:50

If it isn’t called Chinese Whispers anymore what is it called? (In the UK just to clarify)...

onionface · 15/03/2020 21:55

The game of Chinese whispers isn't racist. The name "Chinese whispers" is racist. Because of the idea that Chinese is gobbledegook or incomprehensible.

There are lots of actors called Chris. At least one of them must be a prat(t).

BeetrootRocks · 15/03/2020 21:58

No idea I'm afraid! Someone else said why upthread. People can use this info as they see fit. Consider and accept or discard. As we do with all the mountain of info we get about everything, all the time, these days!

Chris wise if pushed I'd say

Thor
Captain America
Not keen on new Kirk bit smarmy
And DJ Chris at end but I'd probably get on with him better than the others TBF think he likes a drink or 2 Grin

TerrorWig · 15/03/2020 22:11

Yeah, we don't call it Chinese whispers in the US, we call it telephone

Literally never heard that in my life. We used to play Chinese Whispers in Brownies in the late 80s/early 90s.

No idea about Chris Evans, although he's always come across as 'nice' to me. But, nice without any substance.

Hadjab · 15/03/2020 22:14

YABU - follow him on twitter and you’ll see he’s not a frat boy at all

APurpleSquirrel · 15/03/2020 22:16

YABU - Chris Evans seems like a really nice guy from what I've seen/read.
He's currently setting up a website to engage the American public in politics by getting Senators & Representatives to be filmed talking about specific issues in plain English.
He's involved in charities, loves his dog & has strong family links.

Fuchsialipstick01 · 15/03/2020 22:16

We need a full clarification of Chris’. I’ll start
Chris Evans AKA Captain America and original subject of my post

There's something about Chris Pratt and a dog. Did he not take care of it? So, different Chris

Sparklesocks · 15/03/2020 22:20

I always thought he seemed like a nice guy in interviews etc.

Nameofchanges · 15/03/2020 22:25

So to clarify.

Plus side- he is nice to unwanted dogs and his extended family.

Negative side - he jokes about anal sex and was once overly succinct on the topic of Ireland.

Have I missed anything?

KickAssAngel · 15/03/2020 22:26

Chris Evans/Cpt America
Chris Helmsworth/Thor
Chris Pratt/Starlord
Chris Pine/ in Wonder Woman
Chris Evans/UK DJ/TV Presenter

That list could be just to clarify things. Or it could be my personal list o of preference, from phwoar to friendzone.
