My internet has been broken since Thursday morning. I've rang them every day multiple times a day to try and find out the problem and no one seems to know, all I'm getting it 'there is a fault with the system and it's been escalated to another department who will try and fix it', however they have no phone number for this department and can only communicate with them by email. I admittedly got very short with them earlier after I told them that we have someone in the house with university deadlines coming up who's university is closed and we have someone working from home and we live in the middle of no where and the reply was 'well, isn't there someone else's internet you can go and use' and ' well, you're company should be providing you with internet anyway, we are only for home use'. I honestly have steam coming out of my ears and still no one has any idea when it's going to be back on 😤😤

We are having terrible trouble with internet, ever since we moved into our house. Have changed providers twice. Incidentally not tried sky, but I'm the same as you, currently doing post grad, ds doing GCSEs, all our telly streamed through the internet and it's just so sporadic. It makes my blood boil. Such a first world problem but it's not cheap!!

To the pp who said about working from home with regards to their broadband, the company was totally right. Paying for a residential service for business use is wrong, especially as you expect to use that excuse to get a fault fixed sooner. If you need bb for business then pay their rates! So many people seem to want something for nothing.

Email the CEO. Someone will get back to you pretty quickly if you do that!

With Virgin we once had no internet for two months, 4 engineers visit cancellations on the day. It was a weird fault as we had internet very early in the mornings and sunstone very late at night but nothing in between. They kept on promising to look into it and did nothing, to this day they keep on ringing to ask if we'd like to go back to them but after that great customer service we decided not to go with them ever again. We live in a city, not remote to anything. So I get your pain, it's so annoying when swimmingly no one is doing anything and it's impossible to contact anyone ..

UserV · 14/03/2020 22:08

@cerealnamechange Change to plusnet.

Been with them 8 years. Never had a single problem, ever.

Sky are shit. And so is Virgin.

vingt · 14/03/2020 22:21

Plus net were shit when mum had them, we've been with sky twenty years now and no problems. We get great discounts too.

FedUpWithItAllWeep · 14/03/2020 22:29

Unfortunately this is the joy of technology, sometimes it breaks and while it may seem like it should be easy to fix sometimes it just isn't.

Look at Ofcom's auto compensation scheme, Sky is signed up to it. Assuming its a total loss of service, they have two full working days to fix (so until Monday morning) and then you get £8 per day until they fix. Remind them of that!

In the mean time go to your mobile phone provider and get a 30 day internet dongle if you really need the internet, instant internet and not a huge commitment.

Just saw the title of your thread and came to see why on Earth someone might be cross with the sky 😂

Now I see why you are cross. No advice that’s not been given but good luck!

cerealnamechange · 15/03/2020 10:19

Well it's back on this morning so someone's clearly fixed it. I'm not a rude person at all and I'm usually the kind of person in a restaurant to eat the wrong food rather can complain and I never take stuff back. However their nonchalant attitude and seemingly continuous monologue of 'there's nothing we can do' for three days with promises of 'someone will call you back' and 'well I'm sure it will be back on within 24 hours' does start to wear you down. I challenge anyone after hearing this for 3 days with no internet to work or even be able to watch tv with no WiFi connection for their politeness to be starting to wear thin.

And how many people honestly who are unexpectedly working from home because of corona virus have managed to set up business WiFi within days Hmm

@UserV Plusnet don't service all areas of the country. Neither do Virgin.

Around here we only have TalkTalk, SKY or BT.
