Christening

We have my daughters christening booked for in May. With COVID 19 I’m not sure what to do. We have cake etc booked along with church and after venue of course and invitations are currently being addressed. Do you think we will be able to go ahead? Or is it likely that it will still be ongoing / worse rather than better by May?

Well they say we are going to reach the peak in 8-12 weeks which would be msy/June .

May *

The reality is nobody really knows how this will go. Things are changing hour by hour so nobody can tell where we will be by May

I'd leave as is for now. If things get worse as they're predicted to venues will be forced to shut so they'll cancel you

I have the same problem, but a couple of weeks earlier at the end of April. I think we're going to have to cancel, friends and family coming from all over the UK and it just doesn't seem wise at the moment.

Worst case scenario you'll just need the godparents, vicar, and parents. They'll still be welcomed into the church family and you can have the party another time.

My DS' christening was supposed to be early May - we took the decision this morning to postpone

I work for a Church and we have had a couple cancel for April/May. People phone up and ask if they should cancel but to be honest we have no idea what they should do. We are getting advice daily from the Church of England - the two hours work I do each day has now become 1 1/2 hours Coronavirus preparation and updates, 30 minutes everything else. I have been advising people to contact family and warn them that plans might change but to not make any firm decisions till the end of this month. But I understand that people have to work more with the venue etc as they have paid a deposit.

Literally no one can tell you what the situation will be in May and whether or not you should cancel it then. You will need to wait until much nearer the time.

We were having a christening tomorrow but have cancelled. Although only a few diagnosed cases in our area we had too many in the high risk category. We didn't want the christening to potentially be the reason people get sick.

By may/June most people could of already had it.
