Workmen are human too

Anyone else find this, if you work with the public, that some customers do not equate workmen=people.

Where I work, we have customers who send workers to customers' houses, and they've started ordering dust masks. Why? Because people are self isolating and decide, as they are home they will have the work they need doing done. Therefore letting a complete stranger into their home to expose themselves. Not just a quick five minute job, but a good 6 / 8 hour job.

Our delivery drivers have also had to have guidance, in case customers don't tell them, as we still need to deliver into the property.

It's not the first time I've come across this. Heavy snow and they deem it too dangerous to travel. So call out a workmen to do some non urgent work 'as they're home' seemingly forgetting that the workmen have to travel in the conditions you deem too dangerous.

It's like some customers forget the workmen are people as well, and limiting contact to others includes service workers and workmen who would be coming to do non urgent work.

But the workmen can accept or refuse. Why should people not purchase a service that is lawfully offered? Would the workmen rather have no work? I don’t quite get it. Who is ordering dust masks and why is that wrong?
