AIBU to cancel kids party coronavirus

Hi
AIBU to cancel my daughters party which will be next weekend because of the current situation. I’m on the fence. Schools are still open, plenty of mixing there but maybe they won’t be in a week...

I’d cancel. Social distancing will help slow it down and help minimise NHS overwhelm. Yes the kids mix at school but the parents don’t. Then you have the staff. And then you have the hundreds of germy kids that have been there before. Some say the bacteria can last 9 days. We are cancelling most of our social things (not that many to be fair) for the next few weeks while it hits the peak. The only activities we will do (apart from work) will be outdoor in nature. This is not due to fear of getting it but to minimise the chance of unknowingly passing it to more vulnerable people and to do our best to not place extra burden on NHS.

Sorry. Probably not what you want to hear, but this is a national crisis.

I’d go ahead. What’s the difference between spending all day at school with their friends or spending 2 hrs in a soft play together?
We are attending a soft play party tomorrow.

Debating cancelling my DDs party in two weeks aswell. I've had one yes and one no, but think everyone will be waiting to RSVP to see how things turn out, but that makes things awkward for buying food etc too.. not sure what to do but need to decide this weekend to get my deposits back on the hall and entertainment!

It's my daughter's tomorrow and we're going ahead. Schools still open here and had no word from venue but now I'm wondering if I should have cancelled Hmm

We had a big 3rd birthday party planned for 2 weeks time, have decided to cancel and do a much smaller party at home with family! School closure or not I didn’t want to keep planning&spending money knowing a lot of people might cancel nearer the time! If our party was this weekend however I would of continued with the same plans
