To have not moved my car?

Snowflakes1122 · 13/03/2020 14:37

Parked on a street (legally) and some woman pulls up outside me and beeps me., “excuse me you are parked in front of MY house, move!”

Was I BU to have politely and rather taken aback said no? Especially with her attitude.

Why would you think you were being unreasonable?

Finfintytint · 13/03/2020 14:42

What happened next?

SarahInAccounts · 13/03/2020 14:44

I'd have moved in case my tyres were mysteriously slashed.

Sleepycat91 · 13/03/2020 14:45

I had to park on the road in my old job as the station had no carpark. Finished work at midnight to a shitty note saying i wasnt allowed to park my car outside this house as occupant was a carer and needed 24hour access, her hubby had parked his van literally 3mm from my bumper and keyed it. No dropped kerb or over a driveway. People that think they can claim a public round outside their houses are twats IMO

Useryokyesno · 13/03/2020 14:48

Nope definitely not unreasonable.

Snowflakes1122 · 13/03/2020 15:01

I guess I’m just venting/I didn’t think it was unreasonable, it she was pretty outraged! I hope I don’t come back to slashed tyres Or a note Shock Are people that nuts?!

Were you parking on Alphabet street? Maybe you met B. Wink

contentedsoul · 13/03/2020 16:51

We have a drive
The neighbours do not and I’ve seen first hand the tension/tempers of neighbours returning home unable to park because someone on the next street decided to park there...which obviously then has a knock on effect.
I can see both sides...thank god I have my own drive.

Pinkyyy · 13/03/2020 16:53

What did she do/say when you said no?

Starbuck8419 · 13/03/2020 16:55

If it’s free parking, you aren’t blocking anyone, parked illegally or a danger...she can go fuck herself 😊

iheartislesofwight · 13/03/2020 17:32

nice one starbuck straight to the point

MyOwnSummer · 13/03/2020 17:36

Its life. No different to when you're bursting for a wee and the toilet is already in use - first come first served. End of conversation!

alittlequinnie · 13/03/2020 17:36

LOL I clicked on this because I thought it might be about me!

I just asked a woman (nicely) if she woudln't park in front of my garage - although I wasn't trying to get out or anything it's right by a school and car after car parks over it - and delivery drivers - time and time again I come out and someone is in the school - car left blocking me.

She wasn't too happy - I said "I wish you wouldn't because it just gives people the impression again and agian that it's okay to park there". She had a little moan but then I walked away and didn't see the result!

I wish to god the school would put a sign out saying don't park there and advising delivery drivers where to park!

As for parking on road - I always say (and I'm asked a suprising amoutn of times) It's perfectly legal to park my taxed and mot'd car anywhere on the street with no restrictions or drop kerbs - I'm afraid I won't move. I say it really firmly and then just leave it where it is!

... can't believe how many people get het up though - the lady I asked wasn't parked legally by the way!

JemSynergy · 13/03/2020 17:50

No I wouldn't move my car. My car has a camera so if she tried to slash my tyres she's going to be filmed doing it.

Starbuck8419 · 13/03/2020 17:54

Yeah sorry, in hindsight my original response was probably a bit brash 😂

Inthepurplerain · 13/03/2020 17:56

We’re you parking to get close to a school?

Zisforstripyoss · 13/03/2020 17:56

Was she wearing a pink dressing gown?

mouldyoldonkey · 13/03/2020 18:02

I live on a street where it’s incredibly difficult to find a parking space due to people parking to go into town. I often have to park several streets away from my house. Yes they’re parked legally, but it’s still bloody selfish.

Pokkadots · 13/03/2020 18:04

I was called an angry woman by someone who put a note on my car complaining that I had parked outside his house. I said it was a public road and I'd lived there 25 years and I will park wherever I want.

Thefaceofboe · 13/03/2020 18:05

I live on a street where it’s a nightmare to get parked but you can’t call people selfish if they manage to find a space, doesn’t matter where it is. It was my own fault for buying a house on a shitty street

mouldyoldonkey · 13/03/2020 18:07

I have no issue with other residents parking outside my house because I obviously understand that the issue. It’s people who don’t live here/aren’t visiting anyone on the street - they just don’t want to pay to park or walk a little bit further to get into town. It is selfish.

Lllot5 · 13/03/2020 18:08

Bloody annoying though if you can’t park reasonably near your own house.
She was obviously being obnoxious but it does wear thin after a while.

OldEvilOwl · 13/03/2020 18:11

Was she wearing a pink dressing gown?

I had to drive my son 2 miles up the road in my pink dressing gown yesterday as he missed the school bus so I had to catch it at the next bus stop. So embarrassing 😂

PeterPanGoesWrong · 13/03/2020 18:16

Meh! She needs to understand that people can park on roads. Not your problem if she’s dim AF.
IF she slashes you’re tyres, put a fucking brick through her window, but only after knocking to check it’s her house 😘😜

Boom45 · 13/03/2020 18:21

I can never park outside my house, or at least very very rarely. It's a road of terraced houses with 2 mechanics' garages on it so they've always got cars all over the place too. It's annoying but it was clearly like that when i bought the house, one day I'll have enough money for a house with a drive...
