This drives me nuts, when someone starts a thread and someone has to do an ‘eyeroll’ and declare ‘THIS POST HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE!!’
Or ‘not this again!’

If you’re one of these people, are you aware that
1- new people join mums net every day, therefor aren’t aware of previous posts?
2- some people don’t spend huge amounts of time on mumsnet will not know the threads off by heart?

I agree OP, who made them the police of what we can and cannot discuss

AuntieStella · 13/03/2020 10:19

When there are a couple of other Active threads, it's hardly satpying you can't discuss it!

Even if you din't want tomsearch, having a look at what's in Trending and Active before starting a new thread on something is always worthwhile, unless of course your aim is to disrupt discussion by fragmenting and diluting it.

If it's a topical issue, it's almost guaranteed there will be one or more threads.

MN is a self -policing site, so the norms are set by the users deciding what they want. Some level of duplication is the norm. But every now and again it gets ridiculous

It’s usually when there’s half a dozen still very active threads on the same topic. If the OP was as concerned as they usually claim then surely it’s reasonable to expect they would’ve at least scanned the first page of thread titles?

Exactly this

Plus I am one of the “not this again”’posters because it is totally lazy not to at least look at how many other hundreds of threads there are on the same topic, usually active at the same time

The number of CV posts which aren’t even in the topic is driving me crackers. Despite hiding the board people are still posting the same threads in chat and AIBU “just for traffic” and then across all the education, teachers, feminism, even pets boards.

It’s frustrating when people post about CV on AIBU or chat because MN purposely opened a CV forum for everyone to lose their shit over there and leave AIBU clear of it.
