Yelling kids to to sing happy birthday to Boris Johnson is a bit too political for a 7 year old?

My daughter came home today with a very admirable concept. She said we should sing happy birthday twice to Boris Johnson to make sure she was washing her hands long enough. My query is am I being unreasonable that I hate that it is Boris Johnson DD is wishing happy birthday to. I understand if you are a supporter of Boris this may be fine but what if they were saying an alternative political leader? I just think politics shouldn't be in the primary classroom.

Who’s Boris Johnson. Like perhaps she got muddled up with Boris Johnson saying to sing happy birthday. Also who would you sing happy birthday to, you need a name.

You could get her to sing happy birthday to hitler, she wouldn’t know.

How is it even remotely political?

He's today's Prime Minister that's all.

Lordfrontpaw · 12/03/2020 21:44

Is it Boris’ birthday?

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 12/03/2020 21:54

Didn't she confused it with
"Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more"

Which is apparently the perfect length if you sing it properlyGrin

Grin that's what my friends and I said though, none of us support Boris but it was just a funny concept. So funny that it sounds as if she's got genuinely muddled.

I thought his birthday was the 19 June.
OMG it’s so tragic that I know that. I don’t think I get out as much as I like to think I do. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I get my class to sing happy birthday to the person behind them in the queue for the sinks. They get a kick out of it. The last person gets to sing happy birthday to me!

pigsDOfly · 12/03/2020 22:55

Is her school telling them to use his name?

I'd be putting a stop to that.

There'd be no wishing BJ happy birthday in my house.

There are SO many better songs than happy birthday. I am sick of happy birthday!
2 verses of "head, shoulders knees and toes" is great for kids

Are they actually telling them to sing happy birthday to Boris though, I doubt it. As a laugh we joke (not to the kids of course) that we are meant to sing HB to him twice, we absolutely dont. He is an arse!

I imagine it's an easy thing to get confused about as a child.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 13/03/2020 12:55

Get a grip - it's just a name. He's the prime minister, constantly in the news and one of the most high profile people in the country right now. It's not exactly them forcing a political agenda on to her.

FGS. This is a complete fucking wind up post right?

It doesn't scan very well

Just to be clear - you are upset that your dd is using the name 'Boris Johnson' when singing happy birthday as a way to wash her hands correctly to prevent the spread of this virus?

Mockerswithnoknockers · 13/03/2020 13:13

Only if it's the squashed tomatoes and stew version.
