My parents - want them to stay in Portugal - AIBU?

My fit and healthy parents in their mid-70s have been in Portugal for the last four weeks and are planning to stay another two. They are having a lovely time! And there are no confirmed Coronavirus cases in the area where they are staying. They would be able to change their flights and stay longer, and get an Airbnb. As I don’t think we would see much of them over the next couple of months anyway as we will stay clear as we work and travel into London, I am trying to persuade them to stay put where they are. They seem keen to come home, but I have warned them they will need to socially keep themselves to themselves once they get back (which they would probably do in Portugal too), as I am worried purely because of their age and the fact that the virus is more serious the older you are. AIBU?

My friend in Porto said there only needed to be a handful of other cases in Portugal and they'd go into special measures for containment.
It depends on the risk your parents are prepared to take if that happens and they are stuck.
I live in Italy, but couldn't now go home to the UK if I wanted to.

Why should they have to stay there indefinitely to suit you?

They should either stay and leave on the date planned, or travel home early if they are concerned about flights being stopped in future weeks.
If they end up stranded, airbnb could be very expensive if it goes on for ages.
Even if they self isolate at home, they'll be in a known environment with all their belongings around them. Being stuck in a hotel etc, for weeks on end, with non-english speaking medical professionals and not knowing the area would be stressful.

I think it would be far worse for them to get ill in Portugal than at home. It’s a pandemic, it will spread everywhere.

It’s not to suit me but to protect them. I didn’t know where else to post this as don’t use mumsnet much - I have now seen a whole section on Coronavirus 😂 My position is neutral - trying to weigh up the pros and cons, so I picked a position to post it in here. Main thing is looking after them x
