Was I in the wrong?? or was she - Road rage

Ok fully prepared to be told I was BU even though I don't think I was.....

A main A road into the city centre is currently having major roadworks(widening) which started in January and will last until December, it's adding about 30 mins onto a journey each way. At one point on the road it goes from two lanes to one lane.

So I'm in a queue turning left onto the A road with the roadworks, been sat in it with everyone else for a good 20 mins. There are lights to join the A road with two lanes, left hand lane(where I am) to obviously turn left and the right lane to go straight or right only with islands to separate the lanes. As I get through the lights(am still in the left lane but on the A road now) I notice a small black car (lady driver) in the right hand lane go around the island but turn left on the A road so she is now in the right hand lane on the A road.

A few metres down is where the right lane needs to filter into the left lane, everyone is being polite and taking their turn iyswim until I let the car next to me join so they are now front of me. Now the black car is next to me she is revving her engine while we wait for the traffic to move up a bit as the car in front moves off I follow as I had already let them in she then tries to get in front on me nearly hitting my car but I was slightly ahead now so she had no choice but to go behind me.

While we were in the single lane there were lots of horn honking and hand gestors etc. She then was stuck at a pedestrian crossing while I carried on.

Now the A road is back to two lanes, I'm in the left lane when I notice a bit further down a bus stopping so I move over to the right lane then 2 or 3 car lengths behind me ( I had plenty of room to move over) was the black car again. The honking and hand waving contiuned

After the bus she moves over to the left lane so is next to me when we stop at the next lights, she is slightly ahead of me and I notice she's taking a picture of my car with her phone!! Shock

As the lights change she cuts in front of the car in front of me, they are turning right so I move back into the left lane, she moves in front of me and starts to slow right down. Now we are past the roadworks the traffic is moving steady at 30 but she is going 15 at most, I knew if I moved over she would as well.

Now my 3 yr old is in the car with me, am on the way to drop off, clearly this lady thought I had done something so I took a different route and didn't see her again.

Was I BU to not let her cut in? Or was she for being a CF not wanting the wait like the rest of us? I am quite a passive person but hate queue jumpers!

Also what can she do with the picture of my car?

It is usually best to let these people go in front, not that you were to know that at the time. It is more upsetting when they dick a out behind you or Infront like some other people.

MrsClatterbuck · 10/03/2020 12:40

Just remembered on one other occasion similar scenario a lorry drove very slowly in the outside lane keeping all the queue jumpers at bay.

Was it Hyde road ?

AryaStarkWolf · 10/03/2020 12:45

Nope by the sounds of it you were totally in the right and she was being an almighty arsehole who got annoyed when you didn't allow her bully you. Pity she got ahead of you in the end, I'd be annoyed over that :p

Shakirasma · 10/03/2020 12:46

YANBU. There are too many nasty, entitled bullies on the road there days. They are the reason I never drive without my dashcam on.

buckeejit · 10/03/2020 12:48

She's a super dickhead & CF. She was trying to intimidate you. Can do fa with your car pic & she clearly has issues in her life!

Not that the OP did anything wrong, but I'll tend to let them go, if they are small minded enough to think they've "won" well, so be it, I can't be doing with em and it gets them somewhat out of my way.

You're supposed to merge in turn at roadworks, so the lorry driver got it wrong.
