Who is unreasonable?

Brian asked Rick to do a job for him. Once Rick had already quoted and began work on said job, Brian then asked Rick to do something else, a separate job (job 2). Rick quoted separately for job 2 and said he would start it when job 1 was finished.

Job 1 has now been finished and Rick has invoiced Brian for it stating that he'll then begin on job 2 shortly.

Brian has said he will not pay for job 1 until job 2 has been completed.

Rick wants paying for job 1 first as this was a completely separate quote and job and had already begun when Brian asked for job 2.

Who is unreasonable?

And do not do job 2!

AryaStarkWolf · 09/03/2020 13:22

Brian is BU, I don't get his logic

I reckon Brian is awaiting funds to come in that cover both otherwise it would make difference to him when he paid up.

Cheeky Brian

Brian!

@MrBlower is Brian also a friend as well as a client?

Also, Your DH took money for materials and the balance of labour is due. Did the money for materials also cover the materials for Job 2?If not then I suggest that your DH writes to Brian and says something along the lines of;

^Dear Brian,
As per quote #### (copy attached) the works have now been completed and as such the balance of £xxx is now due as per Invoice no.### (copy attached).

If you still require the work quoted for in quote #### (copy attached) to be completed then please confirm this in writing and provide £xxx for materials. Work on this job will commence once payment for job 1 has been made.

Regards,
Rick^

If your husband has already accepted the payment in advance for the materials for job 2 then things are slightly more complicated. However, he could write offering to either return the cash paid for the materials with the full invoice for labour still due to be paid or offer to offset the materials against the invoice due and either return the 'change' or re-issue a reduced invoice.

**Brian is unreasonable (and likely a monstrous bellend as well!).

Who the fuck does Brian think he is dictating when he'll pay. I hope your husband has refused to do anymore work until the invoice is paid in full
