What kind of outfit should I go for?

I've always been very apple shaped. Well, my shape now (after having my baby) is all over the place.
I have slim legs but my tummy is huge as is the tops of my arms. I'm around a size 14. Still breastfeeding but my boobs aren't too big. TBH my confidence in how I look is rock bottom but I'm working on it.

I have a party to go to next month. All of my friends are excitedly talking about the dresses they are thinking of getting, but I have no idea what to go for. I'm quite sporty/outdoorsy so rarely dress up anyway, and I have literally no idea where to start now.

I live rurally so would prefer to shop online (closest place to clothes shop is over 2 hours away which isn't easy with the baby) and as I'm still on maternity leave I dont have loads of money.

HELP!!!!!! Even just ideas of styles would be amazing.

What about a shorter length dress that will show off your legs, that has either long sleeve, fitted under the bust, then flares out? I can’t explain what mean, I’ll look for a photo now

I think Pp means an empire cut dress?

I discovered jumpsuits last year and I love them!!! I got a few from debanhams and I just love them. On a summers day with flip flops, on a night out with heels and a blazer with sleeves half way up forearm, earrings.

All mine are sleeveless and I'm around a 14, but honestly, with a jacket, heels and a v neck jumpsuit, I feel fab

How about something like this? I buy literally all my clothes from ASOS as they have everything on there and it's reasonably cheap

Thank you all.
I used to wear jumpsuits all the time actually. I'll have to have a wee look at them again.
I'll also have a look at the dresses. Thank you.

Mine are all floral/printed so i can get away with them in flip flops

I'm apple shaped with nice legs and crap arms. Wore this to the Xmas do and got loads of compliments, it's very flattering

Something LIKE this. Shorter length, long sleeve, fitted under the bust. There are lots of style, shapes and colours like this about at the moment, that will help hide your arms and tummy, whilst showing off your legs, and even your bust if you wanted.

Do give some thought to your underwear as well. A good bra and spanx can transform an outfit.

I'm an apple. Flat arse and scrawny legs, no hips, all weight on my tummy. I look best in a dress that has a full twirly skirt, preferably one with pockets, it gives the illusion of having hips and an arse.

Wallis do a range of wrap dresses - same style different patterns

I have a black one and this one www.wallis.co.uk/en/wluk/product/dresses-265974/silver-foil-leaf-print-midi-dress-9541611 which I plan to wear for my 50th

They show off leg and cleavage but cover arms and tums - they are really rather nice I got lots of complements when I wore the black one to an awards event in Jan - I am short and fat btw but also like my legs and boobs

I recommend Scarlet and Jo for dresses. They have some lovely ones.

Evening Maxi dress with long sleeves and platform sandals. Play the 1970s card and be glamorous :-)
