Has any one had a private allergy text? NHS are saying keep trying my DD on dairy but I'm so fed up of seeing her so unwell after so wondered if I could go private? How much does it cost and what do they do? She has more allergies than dairy intolerant Tia X

Hi there yes you can go private and there are a myriad of options. If you state your location that could help. Google food intolerance testing and your location. Here's prices and the details for one in Northern Ireland (which I'm guessing isn't where you are). Good luck with it www.dualityhealth.co.uk/allergy-testing/

Whatever you do don't do the ones where you envelope a few strands of hair off. They are a load of nonsense and told me I had no allergy to peanuts or shellfish both of which I am incredibly allergic to.

It really depends on where you have your testing done. If you suspect actual allergy as opposed to CMPI I have no helpful advice. However, for CMPI there is no test if it's a delayed reaction. You just need to eliminate. With my DS it took around 5 days to see any real improvement, and I would say around a month - 6 weeks to say it was definitely clear of his system. You don't mention how old your child is, but you will need a specific formula too; we have Neocate, which is prescription only. What are you child's symptoms?

Sorry - should have also answered your original question. I paid around £250 per session. Skin prick testing with nurse while we waited to be seen by dr. Skin is "scratched" and a dot of each substance applied to different areas of the skin. Wait "x" amount of time and see whether any reaction has taken place. These results along with history of child is reviewed and action plan made to figure out what is causing the issue. This is how we ended up trying the elimination "diet". Tests repeated again 2/3 months later. They usually test for the most common allergens; tree nuts, sesame, kiwi, shellfish etc
