To PA send same email again without comment

To passively aggressively send the same email again with out comment after no answer?

It’s to an admission officer at a school so for them it’s a work email: for me it’s time-sensitive

How long have you given for a response? Might they not be flooded with similar this week?

TheJoxter · 05/03/2020 11:25

Depends how long it’s been but I would, my sons school are rubbish at replying to emails so I always add the content of a previous unanswered email on to the next email I have to send them.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/03/2020 11:25

I've done it before with texts. I wouldn't necessarily see it as PA, I've just assumed the original has been overlooked, and IMHO it's better than, "I've sent you this, and you haven't responded", IUSWIM.

ffswhatnext · 05/03/2020 11:30

Depends how long you’ve been waiting for a reply

LukeSkywalkingOnTheseHaters · 05/03/2020 11:33

Find in sent messages, 'forward' it to her address again, add a message on the top something along the lines of:

"Hi, any update on the below?

I need to get the info by X to allow for Y.

Kind regards,

[name]"

Or something similar

eenymeenyminyme · 05/03/2020 11:34

Can you phone them? Time critical emails can get lost amidst less important ones.

IvinghoeBeacon · 05/03/2020 11:37

You want them to do something for you? How long has it been? I wouldn’t resend it without at least adding something like “dear X, please could I request a response to the query below as it is time sensitive due to Y... etc”
If you need them to do something for you then I wouldn’t be getting their backs up with rude communications even if you do think they aren’t doing their job properly.

LonginesPrime · 05/03/2020 11:39

I don't think passive-aggressively doing anything is a good idea if you want this person to do you a favour and respond quicker, OP.!

It depends how long it's been, but I would try to call and if that doesn't work, say apologies for chasing but I need to know by x date because of y.

IvinghoeBeacon · 05/03/2020 11:40

I agree that phoning would be a good option

HopeYouStepOnALego · 05/03/2020 11:44

Either phone or write what @IvinghoeBeacon says

SoloMummy · 05/03/2020 11:45

Depends how long ago you sent the earlier email.

I would simply state please could you respond to the email below sent 10 working days ago.....

KillingEvenings · 05/03/2020 11:56

Just call them (which is what I did in a similar case earlier this week)

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 05/03/2020 11:58

Didn’t confirmation of schools just come out this week?

YAMBU they will have thousands to deal with and not just yours

WinterCat · 05/03/2020 12:00

Why don’t you ring just in case your emails are going into the junk folder or getting missed?

Blastandbollocks · 05/03/2020 12:00

I'd check they actually got it. Our spam filter can sometimes be a bit overenthusiastic so it may be that they haven't seen it.

RedskyAtnight · 05/03/2020 12:01

Sending a PA repeat email is pointless.

How long is it since you sent the email (and what's the school's timeline in responding to emails)?
Did you make it clear that you needed a response by x date?
Is the reason for needing a response genuine and could it have been avoided (i.e. you've left something to the last minute and now it's their problem).

If it's related to the school admissions this week, I think you are being too impatient (DC's school has posted info on their website and also added to their telephone message that people should not contact them about admissions, but will be written to within the next 2 weeks).

missproportionate · 05/03/2020 12:01

I’ve called every day for a week. I’m not really feeling ‘PA’ but I expect it’s been overlooked - hence sending again

OP posts:
coconuttelegraph · 05/03/2020 12:01

It depends what the email is for, how can anyone judge without any context. Did you send it 10 minutes or 10 days ago? You're gonna need to give a bit more info

AudTheDeepMinded · 05/03/2020 12:04

Can you CC someone else in, that can get things moving. Or request a read receipt?

Bringringbring12 · 05/03/2020 12:04

Forward
And say “Please can you urgently respond to the below. Many thanks,”

Bringringbring12 · 05/03/2020 12:05

The fact you’re asking leads me to believe you don’t work in an office environment?

Because people delaying is very normal (annoying), but being passive aggressive has no place and doesn’t get anyone anywhere

RedskyAtnight · 05/03/2020 12:05

Well if you've called every day for a week, what did the person you speak to say?

ffswhatnext · 05/03/2020 12:09

Aren’t they a bit busy at the moment sorting out allocations?

inwood · 05/03/2020 12:12

call. Emails are easy to ignore. And if you put a read receipt on, I will never read it....

TheMagiciansMewTwo · 05/03/2020 12:14

If you want to get into the school then don't start by being PA. You don't want the office's first impression of you to be that you're impatient, dislike niceties and don't understand admissions procedure.
