(NB this is not an MMR bashing thread and isn't about links to autism)

Sorry to post in AIBU, I'm posting for traffic.

DD3 had her pre-school injections last Thursday and then on Sunday started with a raging high temperature, no appetite, lethargic, rash etc- all of which are apparently normal according to NHS website.
However, her fever still hasn't broken and now she is vomiting also. She hasn't really eaten much since Saturday but she is drinking. I can't get her temp below 38 and all she does is sleep all day.
Is this normal? Would it be worth ringing GP? I realise they are mega busy at the moment so I dont want to waste people's time.

I would. DS did fine with his injections but for the one year ones he had the usual fever, snottiness. No big deal etc. But it got worse and he landed up being properly sick. When I took him to the doctor she had to give him antibiotics - apparently if they get too snotty and unwell, they land up with a bacterial infection because of all the mucus floating around in their sinuses/ throats/chest cavity. It's not common, but she told me it happens often enough that it's not unusual to have to give anti biotics in this situation.

The irony is annoying, but there you go. Admittedly, in our case we'd also travelled shortly after so that probably didn't help in terms of exposure and mucus production.

Yes. You sound worried. 3 year old with a fever for 3 days - perfectly reasonable to contact GP.

Btw - I am a GP and would be v happy to assess your daughter!

Definitely contact gp it's not a waste of time it will put your mind at ease. I hope your dd feels better soon.

My DS had a fever of 40 for ten full days about 10 days after his MMR. I took him back to the doctor twice during that period and one time to the emergency doctor, so I think you'd not be unreasonable at all to take her back to the doctor! It may well be normal, my son's was a normal reaction, but with little kids it's best to be sure.

Go to the doctor.

Definitely go back. DC2 had the same reaction after the first injection with a temperature that wouldn’t come down and ended up in hospital overnight on IV antibiotics JIC.

Definitely go back.... a day or so of fever is normal but I would want this checked as being ok
