Aibu to ask SIL to take pic of my child off social media

Background: I’m divorced from DS’s dad so this is ex-SIL I’m talking about.
It’s DS’s birthday today and last night he celebrated it with his dad and that side of the family. All good. This morning I have woken up to ex SIL’s Facebook and she has posted around 10 photos of just DS with his name, in his school uniform from last night and a big paragraph about how old he is now etc. WIBU to ask her to take them down? I post pictures of him but I know who can see them as I am in control of my own privacy settings. I should also add that occasionally, we have both shared a one off image of our children together if they have been on a day out together and I don’t have an issue with that (nor does she) Somehow this feels different though.

Talk to him. If he has no objection- despite you telling him yours, then I would t to anything. Rules you used to share may not be as important to him anymore. Maybe ask in future no school branded clothing.

From personal experience, social media is a minefield.

This is your child and I believe you should have the right to say no.

Who knows what kind of friends she has?
I don't think you are being unreasonable at all.
Why are some people so blind to photos and social media?

I think this particular event is about risk management. The risk of these particular photos causing harm, and the risk to your relationship with your husband's family and what seems like a loving aunt.

Unless you have reason to think that aunt has some really dodgy friends, or that her page is public rather than friends only, I'd leave it this time, but discuss with your DH what you want as a plan for the future. It could be as simple as asking people only to post things friends only, or as stories rather than statuses (so they're only there for a day)

If your ex gave get permission then it’s tricky but I’d still ask her

I have privacy settings so I know who is viewing them

Realistically your privacy setting make no difference, unless you have you FB really shut down to the few people you know well.

Equally you've put pictures up of her son, so I think you're going to have to have a strong justification here.

Just to add, I hate social media. Id wouldnt put ANY pictures up, so I (partly) understand where you're coming from.
