To consider acupuncture?

I've had a fairly non stop migraine for about 2 years now. I've seen a neurologist etc and everything is okay internally, but the pain persists. Apparently it's linked to stress. As I'm dealing with infertility this is stress that I do find difficult to manage but I'm doing my best!

My gp has tried numerous medications to get the migraines under control, but they're still storming through my brain and ruining my daily life. A friend suggested acupuncture. Has anyone ever tried it? Is it worth the considerable amount of money?

Has anyone found anything else at all that helps with migraines? I've tried a myriad of medications, but also yoga, cold compresses, avoiding certain foods, etc. The nightmare is never ending!

I have the peircing it's called the daith. For the healing process it helped lots and I thought I'd got rid of the migraines forever. I do still get them but I don't feel I get as many as I used too.

There's no actual evidence it works.

After my son had treatment for cancer I ended up with the most debilitating stress induced migraine, probably also for about 2 years. It affected my life terribly. I also tried multiple medications, saw a neurologist and tried acupuncture. I have to say acupuncture definitely helped me,almost gave a euphoric feeling afterwards, and combined with other therapies did help. I ended up on a fairly high dose of Gabapentin which I have now weaned off of slowly and only have 1/2 migraines per month now. Dealing with the root cause is obviously the only solution...but good luck trying to get on top of them. I was desperate and sceptical but definitely found acupuncture beneficial. Good luck!

I didn’t have acupuncture for migraine - I had it for infertility but I was totally amazed when it completely cured my period pains one month so on that basis I would give it a go. Xx

Acupuncture is good for migraines and getting the body in the best balance to conceive.
Two birds one stone.

Don’t listen to the nae sayers who clearly have some other agenda or haven’t had to consider alternative therapies themselves in exhaustion when nowt else worked.

However make sure the therapist is registered with the professional body and like all things, if it doesn’t work don’t write it off. There are good joiners and bad joiners, good dentists and bad dentists, good hairdressers and bad ones - all members of professional bodies etc.

I settled on my second acupuncturist. The Chinese man I went to first wasn’t as good as her.

I have both daith pierced. My first one did nothing. My second (left ear) - coincidence or not, I've had FAR fewer migraines in the past few weeks since I had it done. However, I'm massively sceptical but do like piercings anyway...

I had acupuncture for an autoimmune condition (adult onset Stills disease) that had pretty much ruined my life.
I was completely sceptical but it cured me. Go for it.

I had acupuncture after a miscarriage and a long time trying to get pregnant. My acupuncturist was wonderful, it was like a talk therapy session too! Placebo or not, it really helped me feel better about life (and I did get pregnant fairly quickly so that was a bonus!).

I'd give it a go. Make sure they're registered, obviously. You'd probably start with weekly or fortnightly sessions, I imagine, so do ask them what normally happens for migraine patients so you have an idea of cost before you commit to an acupuncturist and their sessions.

You should try Botox

I had acupuncture for back pain which radiated down my leg into my foot. It was amazing ....the first needle that went into my heel felt like it released a load of pressure ( a bit like when you squeeze a spot Smilemaybe tmi ) I was sceptical but I had about 10 sessions and it was fabulous. Go for it you have nothing to lose.
