AIBU to think it's really strange to post pictures of your child when they are sick on facebook ( with a cold or stomach bug for example)

I have a few old work colleagues on Facebook who every few weeks will post a status containing a picture of their little ones with a caption such as 'poor bubba is sick again vomitted all night ' the child looks understandably sad and distressed. It just doesn't sit comfortably with me but I notice a fair few people doing it ! Does anyone else think this is wrong ? Or can someone explain why this is acceptable ?

exSIL has posted pictures of my nephew both in hospital wearing a mask while having an asthma attack and having a tooth removed. No idea why.

Lllot5 · 02/03/2020 18:14

Think it’s weird to post pics of your kids on Facebook full stop.

gamerwidow · 02/03/2020 18:15

I don’t like it. It feels like it is invading the childs dignity. I’m generally quite relaxed about pictures of children on SM but this feels like too much.

Cacaca · 02/03/2020 18:16

No reason other than attention seeking - let your child have some dignity.

Igotthemheavyboobs · 02/03/2020 18:18

Lllot5
Same

Megan2018 · 02/03/2020 18:19

I don’t have an issue with it, but my SM is locked down to only people I know. It would be weird if you have every man and his dog on there.
I unfollow anyone whose posts irritate me (my DB for one-I do love him but he does post some shite).

foamrolling · 02/03/2020 18:19

It's weird and unpleasant. I'd hate to have someone taking a photo of me and sharing it on social media when I'm unwell

sweetkitty · 02/03/2020 18:20

Photos of children all hooked up to machines after major surgery are always weird ones to me.

EdgarAlanPoe · 02/03/2020 18:21

It’s horrible.

Attention seeking idiots

Kimbaland · 02/03/2020 18:21

I'm sure people do it for attention or sometimes to justify calling in sick at work 🤷‍♀️

Jazzycat84 · 02/03/2020 18:22

If you don’t post it on social media, did it even happen?!

katienana · 02/03/2020 18:23

I was in childrens a&e once and another mum rushed her ill child because she was busy replying to a comment on her Facebook check-in. It's for attention and it's very odd.

HisValentine · 02/03/2020 18:23

They probably do it so they are not judged by co-workers without kids. I only just family and close friends on my FB, literally 35 people, so I put it on their so they keep up to date with my brood as we are all over the world.

SymbollocksInteractionism · 02/03/2020 18:26

YANBU
People who do this are attention seeking arseholes

Dieu · 02/03/2020 18:51

I hate it too, OP. YANBU.
