Hoping someone has some experience of appealing parking tickets on this thread.
I moved into our house about 6 years ago, at the time the driveway was sat centrally at the front of the property. We renovated the garden and moved the driveway about 6ft over so it's now to the left of the original drive which is now just lawn. So essentially there is a dropped kerb there but it leads directly onto my front lawn and it's pretty obvious it's not to be used as a drive. There's also a dropped kerb another 6 ft to the left which sits on the corner of the close and is for disabled/blind access to the other side of the road with its corresponding dropped kerb directly opposite. There is not a dropped kerb opposite our original dropped kerb so crossing there would be difficult for a wheelchair user or a blind person.
So after living here for 6 years and never having an issue parking over the original dropped kerb, yesterday my lodger got a ticket from the local council. Does anyone know if we have grounds to appeal this?
Before I get flamed, no we don't generally park over dropped kerbs, it's obviously out of order to block access to a driveway and to block a disabled person from crossing the road but that's not the case in this instance as the dropped kerb is pretty much useless for both purposes.
