To not go to the Stereophonics concert at the o2 on Friday? (Coronavirus related)

I'm worried about being indoors with so many people, not to mention being crammed in with lots of others. DH says I ABU, but I think it's a real worry. What would you do? Would you go?

A week ago I went to a concert and got backstage with the band... they were no more concerned than I was and they are a much bigger deal than Stereophonics. Fuck Coronavirus panic, go and enjoy yourself.

footphobic · 01/03/2020 23:01

YABVVVU to consider not going. Because they are in fact the best live band ever - my favourite band since 1997 and I have seen them live countless times, superb every time.

I have phonics tickets for later in March and unless band/organisers cancel I will definitely still go.

Go, and enjoy.

Hmm
NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 02/03/2020 00:11

I went to their gig in Sheffield on Friday

Yeah but that was Sheffield; it's years behind everywhere else. Coronavirus won't hit there until sometime in the 22nd century Shock

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 02/03/2020 01:15

I've got tickets for Paul Weller and Stereophonics at RAH at the end of the month. I can't bloody wait. Any other band, sod it, stay at home.

Tartan333 · 02/03/2020 07:02

I'm very worried about coronavirus but even I would still go to this!

Soapytoad · 02/03/2020 07:42

I’d not go.

But that’s because I hate the Stereochronics!

ShalomToYouJackie · 13/11/2020 08:36

Well this aged badly 😁

Quaagars · 13/11/2020 08:39

I'd go - I doubt they'd let you be "crammed" in.
Surely they'd have to do some sort of "risk assessment" COVID thang in there before going ahead.

Quaagars · 13/11/2020 08:40

Goddamit, just noticed it's a zombie Blush Grin
Ignore last post, no there wouldn't have been any risk assess etc as no-one would have had any bloody idea lol

Pikachubaby · 13/11/2020 08:40

Ohhhh the power of hindsight! Grin

BarbaraofSeville · 13/11/2020 08:45

I know. There's a thread about a bad cough from late last year or early this year that got bumped sometime around about August/September and you read the start of the thread and it just seemed bizarre in covid times because no-one was mentioning it, just talking about having a really bad cough Grin.

I've seen that one, it really puzzled me until I noticed the date of the OP.
WeGoHigh · 13/11/2020 09:22

It’s so weird to read back on this with the benefit of hindsight. All the posters saying ‘oh for gods sake you’re being ridiculous’

Clickncollect · 13/11/2020 12:56

I was one of the posters who said to go as I was going to see the stereophonics myself that week, which I did attend. Seems like madness now!

BrumBoo · 13/11/2020 13:01

Ah a Zombie thread with some bite. I've been reading some Covid threads from Jan, Feb, early March and it does make for some 'that aged badly' reading. My personal favourites being 'what do you think they'll do? Shut the whole country down over one virus? Will never happen Hmm' or 'all this hysterics about being expected to wear face masks and keep apart, people will never do it'.

You backseat super-spreader Wink.
MotheringShites · 13/11/2020 13:04

Was any actual research ever done on how many people caught the virus at this concert? This is always held up as spreader event but I’ve never seen any figures.

Neolara · 13/11/2020 13:06

With the benefit of hindsight, I particularly enjoyed this comment.

"Well you could not go, you could stay at home, not go to work, order food online and gt them to eave it on the door step ect. Or just go ad enjoy yourself"

Yes, a lot of threads didn’t age well.

“Wake me up when UK deaths reach four figures”.

@BrumBoo I know! Oh the benefit of hindsight....

sunflowershine · 13/11/2020 13:47

I remember (in RL not on MN) being told I was being utterly silly because I wasn't sure whether to go and see John Bishop perform on the 18th March. We went. Probably 1500- 2000 people at the venue, and he thanked everyone jokingly for taking their lives into their hands at the time!

Luckily, we didn't (as far as we know) get it!

Lockdown the next week. Oops.

ClashCityRocker · 13/11/2020 13:49

It is oddly fascinating...I didn't see the thread first time round, but suspect in that position I'd have been in the 'two minds, but coming down on the side of going' camp.

A few weeks back I turned round at a pub because it looked too busy (and it would have been considered fairly quiet in non covid times).

BrumBoo · 13/11/2020 13:49

To be fair, what has happened since was well beyond most people's imagining. Even those more aware of what was going on probably never expected the levels it's got to. I dont blame people back in February of being a bit skeptical.
