To sleep on my babys floor

My baby monitor is broken! I have tried everything to get it working again and it is too late to go and buy a new one from anywhere. The closest supermarket that might be open is about half an hour away and I'm so tired I dont think driving would be a good idea.
Once I'm asleep I'm a very heavy sleeper so even with my door open I'm worried I wont here the baby if they wake so WIBU just to sleep on their floor? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Does baby still fit in a Moses basket or do you have a travel cot you could pop up for the night?

Is there a way to safely co-sleep this evening?

Keep the doors open. You will hear your baby x

If possible then co sleeping. How old is baby? To be honest if you have a blow up bed or single mattress I would just sleep on the floor too.

Lllot5 · 27/02/2020 23:10

I never had one. Don’t think they’d been invented. I always heard mine. You really don’t need to sleep on the floor.

Rosebyanothername19 · 27/02/2020 23:11

@TokenGinger yes all 3 are brilliant alternatives! I'm clearly just too tired to be thinking straight at all! Their moses basket is in the next room still waiting to go in the loft! Perfect! Thank you so much! Xxx

Have you got two iPhones or an iPhone and an iPad? Download the “Baby Monitor” app instead of a new monitor. A few quid, it’s video and sound, you can talk back to the baby, turn on a light or white noise/lullabies all without going into the room, and even have it streamed to your Apple Watch to keep an eye on them whilst you’re around the house.

Also great for monitoring a simmering pan from the living room whilst playing with baby Wink

@tsiagisel no I dont unfortunately. My husband has both, but he is fast asleep and I dont want to wake him up to find his phone and iPad (they are both probably under his head). I think I have an ancient ipad somewhere in the house so I will have to dig it out tomorrow morning. Brilliant idea to use it for a pan watching too! Thanks!

It’s a great app, I never pay for apps but I’m pleased with this one. Don’t know if it’s also available on Android? The logo is a drawing of a sleeping baby against a blue background if that helps. Yes, it puts to good use my creaky old iPad mini that can’t do anything else too, so that’s good. Also MUCH cheaper than a video monitor.

@Rosebyanothername19

How far is your bedroom from your baby's?

Can you not hear your baby without the monitor?

GrumpyHoonMain · 27/02/2020 23:42

Keep the baby in a moses basket but on the bed, as you will hear them better. I would also suggest if the baby doesn’t wake regularly to breastfeed that you give a dummy temporarily until the monitor is fixed - it will help prevent SIDS

Lynda07 · 27/02/2020 23:44

How old is your baby?

DressingGownofDoom · 27/02/2020 23:49

Depends on age. If under 6 months they should be in your room anyway? If 6 months + Moses basket will be dangerous because they can roll out.
