Is cutting my own head off the only answer?

I have had unbearable pain in one ear, for several days now.

It started gradually about three weeks ago.

Yesterday I saw my GP who said there was a fungal infection and gave me drops.

It is much, much worse in the evenings - to the point where I am now considering chopping off my own head.

Has anyone got any advice? I have taken (variously) co-codamol, diclofenac and just paracetamol.

AIBU too cut off my head in these circumstances?

OP I really feel for you! I had this two years ago and my Dr kept putting it off saying it was just fungal and I’m now deaf and wear hearing aids . Not saying that to scare you as that’s worse case scenario but definitely get a different opinion . It’s agony , in the end the infection just took over and my ear drum burst. It was horrific

I have had terrible ear pain for 3 weeks following a flight from the States .. Paramol is the very strongest painkiller avaliable over the counter at Chemists (contains paracetamol though) .Obviously check with Chemist first . Maybe try 111 or A and E ? At night maybe help sleeping propped up with pillows, as lying flat makes the pain worse (,according to 111 nurse when I had pain ) .Also are you resting during the day? If you wake up pain free and it is worse during the evening ,then tiredness will make the pain worse .If working need to take some time out .People wIll dismiss pain in the ears, but it is as bad if not worse than Toothache IMO! I do hope you feel better OP .Feel free to message me if you want to talk more /cry on my shoulder !Take Care Sending hugs XX

YANBU. I'm off work with an ear infection too. Standing up without wobbling is an issue, but at least not very painful.
Ibuprofen and a hot water bottle held to the ear, is my suggestion.

Have u tried Beconeze (sp?) Nasal spray? GP prescribed that for me it clears the clogged up gunk I think.

How is it now, OP?

It took another two weeks, then gradually got better.

To occupy myself I started a blog.
