AIBU about my salary?

I don't live in the UK, but my country is not too different so I think it's okay to ask the question here.

I always thought my salary is good, but lately I can't help but feel like, maybe, it isn't. But I compare my salary to other people's salary without taking into account that they might work more hours than I do. Anyway, I work 34.5 to 35 hours a week (Monday to Friday) and I earn about £37k annually. My salary increases annually with about £1.2k, and in 3 years time it'll increase by £1.2k PLUS about £4k annually. Making my annual salary £41k PLUS a yearly increase of about £1.2k.

I should probably also mention that I work in an NGO, so I probably don't earn as much as I could earn if I worked elsewhere.

Are receptionists really on €50k(I converted sterling to euro) in Dublin? I did a quick search and I seeing salaries of €25-35k but nothing near 50k. I'm in a different city in Ireland and the only receptionist I know is on €32k and she has like 20 years experience.

OP is prob in Ireland where that is an entirely unremarkable salary for a receptionist

As somebody currently jobseeking in Ireland, let me assure people that is utterly untrue. The salaries are generally 25-30K full time.

There are people on that salary but they have been working in the company for 15-20 years!

Ittakesallkindsofpeople · 25/02/2020 13:38

ETA I’m in Dublin not a small village somewhere!

I'm wondering if OP is in Frankfurt. If so then I can well believe she earns £37,000 as a Receptionist. It's certainly one of the most expensive cities I've ever been to.

Butchyrestingface · 25/02/2020 14:43

Any jobs going round your gaff, @ArtemisOfOrtygia?

I'm happy to move. And whilst reception is probably not my thing (face like a well-skelped arse), I'd be happy to exert myself on the data entry/admin front for a paltry £37k pa.

Average salary but high for a receptionist. Whether it's good or not depends on your personal circumstances, cost of living and what you 'need' from life

Likefootball · 25/02/2020 16:38

Level of education is useful when applying for other jobs, but you are paid on the basis of what the company gets out of you.

doolally1 · 25/02/2020 16:46

Does your salary go up by 1.2k every year forever?

Happygirl79 · 25/02/2020 16:51

Which country do you live in and what type of company do you work for?
