Under investigation for MS. Had an incident of loss of vision in October and an MRI which has shown lesions on my brain. Tomorrow is my first neurologist appointment and I’m terrified.

Your MS nurse will be your crutch over the next few months when it comes to coming to terms with and managing the illness. They are so knowledgable and helpful, my mums nurse has helped her immensely.

I know the diagnosis is very upsetting however my mum often says that there is a lot worse she could have! As I said, she gets on absolutely fine and is in her mid 60s. New treatments are coming through all the time for MS.

Look after yourself, eat well, exercise and have plenty of me time. MS is a very manageable illness for many people.

Also, just to add. Be careful about joining groups on social media. I have endometriosis (which is in no way comparable to MS, I know) but I joined a couple of endometriosis groups on facebook and honestly, it was draining. People posting photos of themselves rolling around the floor in A&E, pics of themselves with tears and snotters running down their faces, the odd person comparing it to "the worst bits of cancer" and stating that its fatal etc. It was just sheer competitive misery at times. I had to come off the pages, they were making me fearful and depressed, the were all about people who had made their illness their identity. So please be careful about joining MS groups. They can be helpful but they can also be a nightmare.
