Does anyone else wing pancake mix?

Iv just pre made the batter for tomorrow.

Did my daughters first with soya milk and followed a recipe, it’s so watery!

So when we made ours I just winged it. A lot of flour, 4 eggs and milk. It’s a thick batter. Just tried it out (obviously) and it’s thicker than a crepe pancake, do I need more milk?

Jesus I feel like I’m on bake off!

I always do this and they always turn out perfect.
1 cup of plain flour
1 cup of oat milk
1 large egg
A spoon of ground almond
A spoon of vanilla extract and a tiny bit of sugar.

justletitbe · 24/02/2020 21:03

does the sugar go in the batter or on the pancake

buttermilkwaffles · 24/02/2020 21:04

@dudsville Japanese Souffle pancakes? They look great, let us know how they turn out if you make them..

@Curiosity101 @Mildura glad you agree! It's a failsafe for sure!

crochetmecolour · 24/02/2020 21:09

4 oz flour
7 fl oz milk
3 fl oz water
2 eggs
Splash of melted butter in the mix

A la Delia. Works every time

Supertrooper98 · 24/02/2020 21:14

I made my batter this eve for tomorrow. Never did that before.
In the morning do I just give it a stir and go?

mogtheexcellent · 24/02/2020 21:19

Mug flour
Mug milk
Large egg

I've seen recipes with melted butter etc but to me it all tastes the same once sprinkled with sugar and lemon. Yum.

stoplickingthetelly · 24/02/2020 21:26

@22Giraffes I use the same as you. Works great and easy to remember.

katy1213 · 24/02/2020 21:31

Splash of water/milk if it's too thick. I make it in the blender so it's nice and smooth.

Muddlingalongalone · 24/02/2020 21:34

Another 1-2-3 er here, although will be partly winging it tomorrow coz my scales broke a d I haven't replaced them yet!

soupmaker · 24/02/2020 21:39

I make "drop scone" aka Scotch pancakes with ...

100g plain flour
2 tbsp caster sugar
1tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
Pinch sea salt
1 large egg
6-8 tbsp milk

I even have a cast iron girdle to cook them on. Just wipe it with a drop of oil as it's so well seasoned.

I'm rubbish at many things but my pancakes are always top notch.

Smurf123 · 24/02/2020 21:39

1 egg
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
Use self raising flour if you want thicker pancakes
Doesn't matter what cup as long as you use same one for flour and milk.

LazyFace · 24/02/2020 22:03

All the recipes above just prove to me that you can totally wing it.
Just put more water in it, it doesn't need much milk.

I usually use self raising flour.
