Has anyone managed to increase their breast milk supply well after it has regulated, eg after 6m or so if exclusive feeding?

You definitely can increase your milk supply at this stage. Your baby will be more effective at draining your breast than any pump. If you let your baby feed as much as possible then pump after she’s finished that might help? If you’re feeding expressed milk, consider using a supplemental nursing system so that baby is at the breast while taking the expressed milk.

Fenugreek as a supplement can be useful. Domperidone can also be prescribed.

Fenugreek helped me

She doesn't tend to check AIBU, she's more likely to see something in the infant feeding section. She may have turned @ alerts off - I have because I didn't want an email every time someone referred to me in a thread!

Think it’s unlikely Domperidone will be prescribed at this stage, MulledWine. Afaik, it’s off label to use for milk production and I’ve never heard of any GPs in the UK being all that happy about it anyway.

Some babies are less effective than a pump - and the reverse is also true 😀. I agree - v good idea to try a pump after bf. But the faff of a supplemental nursing system with a baby of six months is prob a nuisance too far 😀. Baby v unlikely to accept.

Bertie, I am here 😀😀. See downthread!

When I wanted to increase supply, I made sure to put the baby to the breast at least once an hour - it seemed to work within 24-48 hours :)

Haha :o sorry! I was distracted by ill toddler :(

I found garlic really increased my supply also seemed to encourage feeding. I was ebf twins so needed all the help I could get. Apparently the odour comes through the breastmilk and can encourage savoury eating habits later in life!

Early hours of the morning pumping session I would think...... on top of what you’re doing already. I was always told that the early hours are the best for setting demand hormonally. Oats and increase your fluid intake too.
