To make a business selling plants?

Say on Etsy or Ebay to start?

I have stacks and stacks of seeds, loads of self seeding plants outside too I can collect seed from.

I am debating growing them to a decent garden ready size and selling on?
Think it would be possible to make a decent living out of it?

I’d really like to do something from home and try and make a bit of money.

Plants are very fashionable right now but to make a profit must be tricky as postage is quite expensive I would imagine?

Good idea though if you can make it work. Look at patch.com for inspiration on what works as I hear they're doing well.

Plants are very popular in markets - farmers and others, and fairs, though I don’t know whether you’d make enough money for it to be worth your while. No harm in doing it for a season and seeing how it goes.

There are some new regulations that have come in about selling plants. If you do it commercially you have to have passports for every plant you sell (which means being inspected, which can be very expensive). I sell plants at my gate for charity - this seems to be exempt because they are bought by local people who will plant them locally. I think if you sold them at car boot sales, etc. you might be okay, but you would need to double-check. www.gov.uk/guidance/issuing-plant-passports-to-trade-plants-in-the-eu

It mentions needing passports if you are going to do mail order.

I know - it's annoying. I think if you can prove that your end users are going to be local and that you are not selling to retailers, you can avoid having to get passports, but it needs checking to be sure.
