To get so fed up with the towie and MIC lots pregnancies

Every time one of them is pregnant, they act like they are the only woman to ever get pregnant. There are daily articles about them online and they post on insta constantly talking about the struggles they face. They have very public baby showers and gender reveals and it feels like they are pregnant for at least a year!!! We do not care what type of baby you are going to push out.

And then after the baby, within days, they are posting pictures of their post partum body! This then gives unrealistic goals to us 'regular' women.

Why can't they just go about it quietly like the rest of us? I think I'm more irritated by them because I've just had a baby and they make pregnancy and birth seem like the easiest, most fun thing ever and that isn't reality. Pregnancy is difficult at times and all births come with their own little complications or problems.

Just give us a break!! And stop peddling shite on Instagram too. Smile

Plenty of “real life” women are the same.

I was about to post exactly the same thing.

In fact, plenty of women are the same, even when they know you struggle with infertility. When people have that level of self-absorption they're unlikely to change, so you're better off just avoiding them if it irritates or upsets you.

I don't think OP was being a troll, people are allowed to have opinions.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/02/2020 15:31

I've seen none of this, I actually watch MIC and have no idea who's even pregnant

Millie Mackintosh I presume they mean.

I would think, that some of it is partly trying to flog the pregnancy, to then try get magazine deals or deals with baby products to earn money.. but could be totally wrong!

For me their post baby bodies are what mine looks like (naturally, I don't diet) so it doesn't bother me at all. If it didn't I just wouldn't read about them and look at their pictures.

peachypetite · 22/02/2020 15:34

Stop following them. It really is that simple.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2020 15:44

People are allowed to have their opinions. Just not post them. People die if we do that. So just don't. Please.

@BritWifeinUSA

Plenty of “real life” women are the same. I “unfriended” my brother’s wife on Facebook when she was pregnant because every bloody day there were at least two posts from her and all they all started “because I’m pregnant...”. And minute-by-minute updates. She posted about nothing else. Absolutely nothing. And it wasn’t even her first.

I know a few women like this. Mind-numbingly tedious and irritating and acting like THEY are the first one to ever have a baby.

One woman I know has breastfed her 3 kids (aged 2, 4 and 7,) She still feeds the 2 younger ones and stopped breastfeeding the oldest one when he was 5, and she parps on about it every fucking DAY! Like she is the only one ever to breastfeed a child. She posts pics of her doing it, and says 'I am a real mom, I breastfeed my children.' Hmm

I mean, yeah breastfeeding is OK, la la la, but why tell everyone you do it and why post pictures of it on facebook? AND have a go at women who don't/can't breastfeed.

It's nothing but pathetic narcissistic attention-seeking at its worst.

I avoid people like her like the plague. And these Z-listers on TV are the worst. I can't believe it passes as entertainment to be honest. Such vacuous and pointless people.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 22/02/2020 16:38

I didn't look like that before pregnancy let alone post partum ! Tbf if I looked like that at any stage in my life I'd post it too Grin

How can you post that you’re frustrated with social media culture, when you are social media culture?!
They post it because you care about it.

I’ve never watched TOWIE or MIC. I couldn’t tell you the name of a single person to come from those shows. So I’m certainly not following them on Instagram etc.

That doesn’t make me a better person than someone who likes that kind of entertainment - watch what you like. It’s just to show that it is completely avoidable with no effort. Watch it if you want, follow them if you want - but don’t then complain about the content that you fuel!
