Tbh i thought it was normal to wake up 40s plus sire in the morning, hobbling about, body aching. But been speaking to friends, some in their mid to late 60s and they were surprised. What the hell, what is wrong eith me, is it just me?

I’m 38 and ache first thing in the morning and when I have been sat down for a while - especially my hips. I put it down to being overweight but I did have pgp when pregnant and have also suffered from really bad plantar fasciitis in the past so wonder if I am just prone to these things.
Every so often I go to the drs to check it isn’t arthritis and they always say it isn’t 🤷‍♀️

I'm older than OP by a good few years.

No stiffness, no issues joint wise and am very very thankful for that.

Luck of the draw and the cards you are dealt. I do have other issues though! No life is perfect.

Sounds a bit like polymyalgia, but the only way to find out is to get a referral from GP to get it checked out.

Us randomers on the internet can say anything really, although to be fair most of us just want to help and give our own experiences.

Best of luck op.

I'm 50s and get intermittent stiffness - I also have hypothyroidism and find if my dose of thyroxin is not spot on the stiffness is worse.

The only thing that really works for me is exercise. If I don't exercise for a few days, I start to seize up! Also if I sit down for too long.

My lower back's bloody murder on waking - have to roll out of bed.

Suddenly started about 6 months ago. Early 40's. Spoils my lie ins Sad

I'm 49 and have one retired ovary and one working one (was told when i had an ultrasound) I was very achey over xmas and was getting hot flushes. Then i had a normal cycle with no aches and no hot flushes. So for me it's related to hormones

AlpineSnow · 26/02/2020 19:04

I was getting lower back pain in the mornings but that has stopped now

Verily1 · 26/02/2020 19:10

I’ve been stiff and achey since my 20s.

Suze1621 · 26/02/2020 19:32

Really achy joints, especially in the morning was my main menopausal symptom - HRT made a massive difference.

Dozer · 26/02/2020 19:34

I had sore joints in my 20s/30s, no longer happens since started exercising regularly.

youknowitmakessensedunnit · 26/02/2020 19:36

do some stretches, hamstring stretches are pretty good, core exercises etc. they do help

Toomanygerbils · 27/02/2020 02:57

Also worth checking for b12 levels, not normally tested as a routine blood test. Pernicious Anaemia can make you very run down, short of breath and give muscle aches. Another is thyroid issues

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 27/02/2020 03:39

Diagnosed with moderate arthritis and FAI in my left hip at 45. Considered “too young” for surgery as I’ll need it replacing again when I’m 60. FFS.

Toomanygerbils · 27/02/2020 03:44

Anyone one else here had their gps want to initially diagnose as stress or anxiety? Just asking as it took two years of fighting before the pernicious anaemia was diagnosed, I almost gave up due to doctors thinking I was making it up
