Neighbours and taking in parcels

I'm not sure whether I'm being petty or not.

Last Thur 13 February 7.30pm I received a text from husband ( been working away 3 months won't be home until April. Wouldn't usually spend £36 on flowers). He had a text confirming flowers delivered to me for Valentine's Day. The text said they have put them in a safe place and left a card.

Told him not received anything. No card. Went outside to look.

Fri 14 February again checked the front and back garden. To see if anything had been left.

Emailed the flower company and chatted online with the courier.

Courier Company CC - Would need to speak with the driver and reply via email.

Later on CC told me the flowers had been delivered to a neighbours home in error. Gave me the address told me to go and collect them.

"We can confirm that the parcel was delivered at neighbour's house in error which is just situated at around the corner so please request you to check once with them"

I have autism and anxiety not their issue I know but I absolutely hate situations like this.

I went round. I went back again No answer and by then it was 24 hours since delivery so they were probably dead.

Flowery company replied and said they would send more out.
I explained what had happened and they said they will refund my husband and claim with courier.

I told CC I would like to complain. Their reply " I can confirm that due to this item being flowers, I request that you please make contact with your sender as they will be able to give you further advice and support so that this can be resolved for you. I know that this comes as little to no compensation to yourself, however, this is the procedure and the contract that we have entered into with the seller. The seller should be able to have a replacement item sent out to you" I'd already told them we were being refunded but I still feel I am in the right to complain to the courier.

I know my husband will get his money back from the florist.

So my AIBU

  1. To not understand how someone who delivers items for a living can get an address wrong. Different road name different postcode but same house number.
  1. These random neighbours have had some rises delivered on Valentine's Day for free. The label must have had my name and address right??

IABU I'm being refunded (technically I'm not as he's keeping the money. I think him being away is making it more of a bigger deal as I've been home with the kids)

Thank you xx

A 20 minute walk is a mile, that's actually quite far away. If I were the neighbours I'd have told the flower company to sort it out and unless I was actually passing I.wouldn't drop off your parcel. Why do you think they should have taken 40+ minutes out of their day to walk round with a parcel that you might not even be in for? This is assuming that they got the parcel, know you don't know it's at their house to collect (except you do know) etc. You're getting really silly about this now, just drop it.
