AIBU?

To think that science teacher saying that a female's 'prime' is at 18 to a year 11 class is out of order?

DD came back today and her friend came over, they both came back talking about how shocked they were at their (30s male) science teacher.

Apparently they got onto the topic of puberty and the boys were chiming in with the usual stuff about boobs and ageing and the teacher said that it's a scientific fact that a female's prime is at 18 years of age...

I think it's disgusting. Especially when the class already has had problems with sexism (supposedly being tackled) after year 10 joiners have tipped the small class from being 9 boys and 6 girls, to 16 boys and 4 girls.

I would be reporting this teacher for inappropriate comments if I were you OP. He has no right or reason to create that kind of psychological environment for the young girls in his class.

There is no scientific basis for his comments as there is nothing 'prime' about the developmental point of eighteen-years in a girl. Females are in high-risk pregnancy category at that age and at least ten years off sexual maturity. Sounds like he's spending too much time on PornHub. He needs to keep that sh!t out of the classroom.

As pp have said, it's true from a physical, biological, reproductive perspective. - I learned that it was 17 years.

As COUNTLESS pp have pointed out, that's just isn't true.
The female body is not fully mature until 19 it 20. Pregnancy under 19 is statistically higher risk to mother and child.
Actually, biologically, it's men who are at peak fertility at 18..(in terms of sperm quality at any rate)
Bet he didn't mention that!

You are def not being unreasonable!

What a wanker! I would complain. Genuinely!!

How dare he! He's meant to be a fucking science teacher!! Spouting sexist shite!!

Prime wtf! What does that even mean?

It's been explained on here that 18 is def not best time to conceive. So what the hell is he talking about with prime? Looks, sexuality?

He needs to be stopped spouting the rubbish to other years.

I feel dreadfully sad that other women on this thread don't understand why this is so wrong, and may feel reporting it is an overreaction.
