Her poor, poor mother, my heart absolutely goes out to her. And the rest of the family.

Does anyone know why the murderer can't be named? Is it NZ law or something?

The murderer has now been publically named. It was NZ law to do with appeals I think.

What a sad case, poor Grace, poor family.

I believe the killer is subject to more charges in relation to another woman which is why he can't be named

I wondered that and Googled it after your OP.
I found this.
"New Zealand law says that the court has to be satisfied that publication of the person’s identity would cause hardship to the person charged, create a risk of prejudice to trial, or endanger the safety of any person as among the eight reasons for suppressing a defendant’s identity."

The rise in 'sex games gone wrong' as a defence is worrying.

In NZ the default position has always been anonymity until the judge lifts it - the opposite system to ours. I like it in principle as a concept, as it stops shit shows like the Caroline flack debacle, but after conviction I think it should be lifted. That’s enough open justice for me. I think it will be lifted at some point in the future.

Re the concept, not naming til found guilty/the judge decides - presumably at the end of the trial?, my issue with that is eg Rolf Harris/Jimmy Savile - all the extra people who came forward. ditto Harvey Weinstein.

Such a horrible case.
