To be interested in which London areas young families are living in

NC for this. Interested to know where in London new families are living, (if they are not extremely wealthy Russian oligarchs and living in Mayfair). I live near Silvertown but would love to live more centrally and in a more family orientated or leafy area - the kind of place I used to live in when I rented. I was just reading a thread about London Mums and a lot of them said they lived in Zones 1 - 2 and it got me interested.

If you are a newish Mum and in a "normal" to "very good" income bracket (as London is so skewed so we are all wealthy in the content of UK) can I ask whereabouts in London you live, and if you like it?

Fulham is fab. Parsons Green is full of families. Not an oligarch in sight. But not particularly cheap, expect to pay £1.5m minimum for a Victorian terraced house with a tiny back garden.

There are some lovely parts of Barnet. I love it here.

Camberwell/Herne Hill. Getting expensive though (we moved here in 2002 and are still in the same 2 bed flat now, we just decluttered when we had kids).

My brother’s in Forest Hill, and lots of our friends are in West Norwood/Tulse Hill/Sydenham. Lovely houses, decent schools, lots of green space.

Lots of people in Peckham/Queen’s Road/Elephant and Castle/New Cross as well. Bit more urban, better transport/amenities, cheaper houses (because they are smaller), schools maybe not so good.

Earlsfield/Wandsworth (zone 2) before moving out. Was great for families
