Baking a cake! I never bake, I suck at it! It’s for a relative who’s in hospital.

But what an earth is this measurement in grams 11/2 cups??!! Mr google isn’t helping at all! Help me!!

Can you link or post a picture of the recipe? Is it a specific cake they (the relative) love? Otherwise if you're a novice, go for a Mary Berry Victoria sponge.

RubaDubMum89 · 19/02/2020 22:07

This isn't going to help at all but, it also depends what's in the cup as to how much is weighs!

Try looking for a cups to grams conversion chart?

Or, a different recipe 😉 good luck!

Imnotaslimjim · 19/02/2020 22:09

Google the recipe with UK in the search and it should come up with imperial measurements for you.

If you let us know what cake it is, maybe we can find it for you

We need to know the ingredient. Cups are a volume measurement, but grams are weight, so it varies depending on what you are measuring.

Waveysnail · 19/02/2020 22:11

If your doing a sponge - I always weigh eggs then add same weight for rest of the ingredients

Bakingacakehelp · 19/02/2020 22:12

Thank you I tried the converter already it’s the 11/2 that’s confusing me but I’m wondering if it should be 1/2 cup and it’s a mistake!

Knittedfairies · 19/02/2020 22:13

One and a half cups, I think.

Bakingacakehelp · 19/02/2020 22:14

@TheFlis12345 it’s self raising flour

Bakingacakehelp · 19/02/2020 22:15

@Knittedfairies 1 and a half cups would make sense! Thank you!

You need a set of cup measuring implements! American recipes often use cups as a measurement. What kind of cake is it? Cake

Yabadee · 19/02/2020 22:17

I make it 182g using this OP

Yabadee · 19/02/2020 22:17

Sorry 192, fat fingers

Bakingacakehelp · 19/02/2020 22:19

Great thank you all for your help! I’ve gone with 192g. Having to move fast as my cats decided he likes the taste of my buttered cake case!

Let us know how it turns out!

DowntownAbby · 19/02/2020 22:45

This is the correct link: simplestmostdeliciousfood.com/?p=384

Definitely 1.5 cups, OP, good luck.

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/02/2020 06:15

Hope it came out nicely. Let us know!

MrsToothyBitch · 20/02/2020 10:58

You need a set of measuring cups! How did it turn out?

Also be kind on yourself next time and make a Victoria sponge. Use imperial measures- 2 ounces of each ingredient (butter, sr flour, caster sugar) per each egg you use. Icining sugar sifted in top, jam in the middle.
