Aibu: Don't be disappointed, i've chosen those who i thought would make this fun

Probably a billion threads on this but i've been tagged and seen loads of this "wear your crown" business on Facebook,
But the line "if i havent tagged you dont be disappointed, i've chosen those who i thought would make this fun" seems a bit ironic in terms of the whole "be kind" malarky going around.

OP posts:

Every time I read something like this it makes me glad I don’t have any social media accounts (apart from Mumsnet obvsGrin)

ohnooutofdateham · 18/02/2020 21:36

I was tagged in this a couple of hours ago by a woman I barely know. I just ignored it. It's weird.

partofthepeanutgallery · 18/02/2020 21:40

Yep. It's all over my newsfeed and I've even been tagged for it. the irony didn't escape me, that 'fun' people will be tagged ... but hey, don't be offended!

Am ignoring and will quietly delete from my newsfeed tonight.

BelfortGabbz · 18/02/2020 21:48

Patting myself on the back for leaving all that shite behind 18 months ago.
Join me, it's great.

Lindy2 · 18/02/2020 21:49

This seems to be on loads of my friends' timelines. Not a single one has tagged me to join in.

I don't know whether to be offended that I'm clearly not "fun" or be pleased that they actually all know me well enough to know there's not a chance I'd join in this rubbish.

Ariela · 18/02/2020 21:50

My friends know me well, I don't re-post rubbish like that, so I never get tagged!

NemophilistRebel · 18/02/2020 21:50

@Lindy2 no ones tagged me either Grin

Coffeeandtv1983 · 18/02/2020 21:51

I saw this on a friend’s page but it said ‘I’ve tagged people that I thought would take part’ Someone must have changed it to be a bit more diplomatic.

QuillBill · 18/02/2020 21:58

I’ve got a for ‘Caroline’s law’ now.

“To consider a law that would make it a criminal offence, not dissimilar to Corporate Manslaughter, for the British Media to knowingly and relentlessly bully a person, whether they be in the public eye or not, up to the point that they take their own life.”

StepHeelClack · 18/02/2020 22:02

Fuck, I keep getting tagged in this and it’s doing my box in

HowlsMovingBungalow · 18/02/2020 22:09

I booted Facebook nearly a year ago thank fuck.
I often wondered whether these viral posts were created by people with zero intelligence or by someone thinking " No- one will fall for this bullshit ... will they? ".

MadameMeursault · 18/02/2020 22:11

I hate this. I screenshotted one that I hadn’t been tagged in, anonymised it and posted it saying oh so am I not fun or beautiful then? Then the poster saw it, oops! She’d tagged 43 people when you can tag 50 so I hadn’t even made the top 43! I don’t give a shit because I think it’s all attention-seeking bullshit, but some women might. It’s not going to do wonders for their “crown” (🤮) is it?

JennysTailor · 18/02/2020 22:11

Hahaha, yes OP that line caught my attention too. Agree with PPs also regarding the various degrees of bollocks it is.

MadameMeursault · 18/02/2020 22:16

@Allthepinkunicorns How is sharing a picture of yourself meant to cure kindness? Brilliant slip there! You’re right though, it is a bloody load of bollocks.

ShoppingBasket · 18/02/2020 22:18

You are right! Also, what about certain people who don't get tagged might make them feel shit. I don't want to be tagged and if I am I won't be reposting. I'm sick of seeing this be kind shite all over the internet. It doesn't mean anything, people are still going to be wankers and those types will not take any notice of the be kind message. Horseshit

PotholeParadise · 18/02/2020 22:23

It's pissing me off. I've been tagged in it now. I bet half the people sharing it were posting celeb bashing stuff about all and sundry last week, including Caroline Flack, and they'll be back to it before February is over.

Beyond that, how is attaching her name to the latest viral selfie meme, kind to her grieving friends and family?

Suicide has an immense impact on those left behind, and they need to all be left alone.

eenymeenyminyme · 18/02/2020 22:27

I thought exactly the same.

I've reposted it but changed the words to 'I can only tag 50 people' so it's a logistical thing rather than me choosing which of my friends are fun or not.

Ohyesiam · 18/02/2020 22:34

Mine said
“ I tagged people I thought would take part. “
I didn’t though, never do this stuff.

Mycatwontstopstaring · 18/02/2020 22:35

Yeah it’s all ridiculously ironic. The people who post about being supportive never seem to be at all supportive as far as I can see.

Also - am adult, really not needing other adults to tell me how to behave.

AHintOfStyle · 18/02/2020 22:37

I thought exactly this. I've untagged myself from any I've been tagged in and I'm not having anything to do with it.

AvocadoOwl · 18/02/2020 22:39

Absolutely hate this shit. Hideous behaviour.

theunperfectparent · 18/02/2020 22:39

Hate that kind of shit and what makes it more stupid is that every photo posted has a filter on so it’s not even the real person

RiftGibbon · 18/02/2020 22:39

I'm ignoring it currently having been tagged twice. I don't do selfies and recently lost a friend to suspected suicide.
Posting a picture of your own face does nothing towards helping others but I have managed to restrain myself from posting that by sitting on my hands.

YouokHun · 18/02/2020 22:48

Yes, it’s shit and I notice a correlation (on my Facebook at least); the simplistic “be kind” brigade are exactly the same ones lapping up the stories about celebs in the DM. It’s exactly this sort of social media showcasing that is wrong with the world. I do not need instruction to “be kind” from some Karen who is just as flawed as I am 😡
