To Ask About Single Parent Holidays........

I've done a bit of googling and haven't found much of anything. What I'm after is holidays where there will be other single parents and their DC.

My son and I were able to go on 3 cheap holidays last year, once to Loch Ness (Inverness) and twice to Butlins (it's all we can afford) and whilst we had fun I feel my lad would have enjoyed it much more if there were other kids in the same boat as him, ie, stuck with Dad all the time and to have someone to play with

We did in fact meet up with another Dad and son combi at Butlins but that was by pure chance and was on the second to last day of the holiday, both the boys had a blast....

So, my very poorly worded question is, are there any holidays around for single parents looking to have play dates for their DC?

I saw what I guessed (probably, poorly) other single parents at Butlins but you can't just walk up to someone and go - can my boy play with your boy/girl.

I have done both Mango holidays and Single with Kids abroad and would recommend both but the prices are high, in my opinion. What really worked for me in the UK is something called realfamilyholidays. Have a google - not single parent but family oriented with free and cheap activities. No obligation to join in - we used to do the free activities in the morning then do our own thing in the afternoon. All inclusive (or as near as damn it), clean but basic accommodation, games rooms, tv rooms, WiFi and loads of outside space. The children make friends and I find mum’s tend to flock together in the evenings whilst dad’s to their own thing. Very cheap (and on Quidco as well).

All these suggestions are brilliant!

They didn’t try the silent cinema, Sammy, but I bet they would have liked it! They did - Big one - wall climbing, zip wire and archery. Little one - wall climbing also, go karts, fencing. Plus loads of swimming!

We had a few goes on the fun fair but the storm made that a bit tricky, plus watching an animal show and a puppet show because we were passing those. Little one also went on the soft play.

UK based activity holidays for single parents (and they're subsidised as run by a charity):
