Wait and do another test or go to the doctor?

Period is 6 days late, I’ve done a test but it came up negative. I’ve got chronic constipation (that I never get) itchy boobs and about 6ish days after I ovulated I got strange cramps that I’ve never had before that came and went over a couple of days. Similar to a period cramp but not quite.

I’m driving myself crazy with the whole am I? Aren’t I? Can you still be pregnant and not show up on a test? Do I wait and test again in a few days, or go to the doctor and get checked?

Has anyone else been in the same situation?
Please advise me Sad

The dr isn’t going to do anything regarding pregnancy if you’ve already had a negative test. Maybe test again yourself in another week.

Chronic by definition means a long term problem. Do you have long term constipation?
Have you tried increasing your dietary fibre and fluid intake?
Have you moisturised your boobs and take some paracetamol for your tummy pain?

With one of my DC I was six weeks late before I got a positive test and I only ever got the faintest of faint lines. With another I got a positive test four days before my period was even due. Nature is wacky like that.

I'd give it a few days then test using first morning wee and using a more sensitive test such as First Response. If it's still negative then see your GP.

I’ve only had the constipation since ovulating, and the cramps only lasted a couple of days. I’ve been drinking a ton of water and trying to eat more fibre. I’m always on the loo wee wise.

I wouldn’t go to the GP because my period was six days late. Sometimes periods are late.

What are you doing about the constipation? As a pp said, chronic means having a long term condition.

I would leave it a few days and test again, make sure you test first thing in the morning. The tests used by GPs aren’t any more sensitive.

Doctors don’t do pregnancy tests and even when you are pregnant they don’t double check by doing a test, they refer you straight to the midwife without seeing you first.

Ttc can make everyone go a bit nuts at times. While it does occasionally happen, as someone’s said ^ it’s unlikely for you to get negative tests if you’re pregnant.

How do you know when you ovulated?

Whenwillipoo · 17/02/2020 22:01

I’ve been tracking my cycle on an app so made sure we dtd before, during and after. My cycles are usually regular and I’ve never had these symptoms before so that’s what’s confusing me. I usually get a lovely big spot under the skin just before I’m due on and that hasn’t appeared this month either Confused

I thought the doctor might have done a blood test or something?

The doctor will probably tell you to wait a bit longer and test again. I would wait a few days and test again.

HeyMac · 17/02/2020 22:08

Maybe you ovulated later or skipped ovulation.

I'd you are putting your body under pressure by paying this close attention to it you may have stressed yourself out.

Wait and see. The doctor isn't able to do anything.

My period was a week late once because I was constipated. As soon as that sorted itself out my period appeared straight away!

Drink lots, eat bran, prunes. You can get laxatives such as lactose or senna from Boots.

This happened to me and I was at an appt with nurse practitioner anbout allergies or something trivial and -nervously-told her. She was great and did beta hcg blood test- it was positive 69 which is low (but think it should have shown in pregnancy test) It took another few days to show and was still very faint. As I'd had previous miscarriage she did another two every other day ish to see if it was viable. Good luck- expect to be told they can't do anything and hope that they do. Keeping fingers crossed.

Try a first response with FMW.

PapayaCoconut · 18/02/2020 02:01

Can you still be pregnant and not show up on a test?

Yes, of course you can, especially if your period isn't like clockwork I had this both times. With my first, I tested twice in one day and got a positive the second time.

Buy those cheap no-frills test sticks online (red dye - no false positives) and keep testing every day. And by the way, a line is a positive, no matter how faint.

GarlicSoup · 18/02/2020 02:09

It’s a shame you’ve had some pedantic replies OP. Try another tests in a few days. Hope you get the result you want.

Incontinencesucks · 18/02/2020 02:58

They are very unlikely to do a blood test OP. I skipped a period completely once, had all the symptoms i normally had and GP told me it was normal to sometimes skip and only come back of i missed the next bleed. So about 6 weeks after my first missed period.

Ttc can mess around your body and brain but could you have ovulated late? Making you earlier along? Get a FR test and try with first morning wee
