I keep getting what I can only describe as "quickening" in the lower part of my abdomen.

Obviously the first assumption would be that I'm pregnant but I have a coil fitted and haven't missed any periods - though I haven't actually taken a test.

There is no pain or anything just this weird butterfly feeling. It's quite frequent. I wondered if it might be wind but I haven't changed my diet and there are no other obvious signs of excess wind Blush

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm late 20s, quite overweight but otherwise no major health concerns.

I know I need to take a test but wondered if anyone else has experienced anything like this so I can stop driving myself nuts.

I get this. My gynaecologist says it's wind in the bowel. After you have a baby the bowel moves around and I have a part that sits between my uterus and bladder and it causes this fluttering, exactly like a baby kicking.

Catapillarsruletheworld · 16/02/2020 21:13

I was going to say wind.

orangejuicer · 16/02/2020 21:13

Ooh I get this too. Thanks why!

Boom45 · 16/02/2020 21:13

I get this too, I think its wind and memory of a baby.
Although I love the term "quickening" I think it's beautiful...

Wind. Try peppermint tea and see if it goes away

glenhaggis · 16/02/2020 21:20

wind. I got it after all of my DCs were born, it took a few years to go.

I had a large fibroid that felt like this I kept convincing myself I was pregnant. I had a coil too that disappeared and eventually got removed with the fibroid.

BobbleBun · 16/02/2020 23:56

Thanks, I had my daughter nearly 12 years ago so I'm not sure it's anything like what why suggested. Surely that would've shown up before now?

How did you find out it was a fibroid Eva?

I get this when I eat beef, milk or butter that's not organic. I'm pretty sure it's from the growth hormone given to cows.

WallyDancre · 17/02/2020 06:29

@NotALurker2 - Use of growth hormone in cattle is illegal in the EU, and import of food products from hormone-treated cattle is also illegal. This still applies in the UK, but will almost certainly cease to apply after this year.

BobbleBun · 17/02/2020 21:54

I use organic milk and don't eat enough butter or beef to be feeling this as often as I am.

I've had some menopausal symptoms recently but put that down to my coil and other medication. Now wondering if it might be fibroids.
