Or is period diarrhoea fucking awful?

Just that really. Every time I have my period the first few days are so heavy I'm passing clots and my bowels go totally nuts... the worst room clearing farts ever and diarrhoea. I often don't know if the cramps are menstrual or diarrhoea. Today and yesterday have been horrific. Please tell me it's not just me!!

I actually thought this was just me and that I was weird !
I always get a dodgy tummy when I’m on and don’t even get me started on the clean up, it always looks like there’s been a serious traffic accident in the toilet bowl

Maighdeann · 17/02/2020 16:50

I get the hangover poo as well as this. I sometimes think I can't possibly go again and get more shit appears.

silencebeforethebleeps · 17/02/2020 17:07

The shits just before coming on, accompanied by burning bowels. Then constipation during, so that whenever I go to the toilet and push, my tampon plops out as well. Gah!

Ohnoherewego62 · 17/02/2020 17:10

Another for the shits here! Coupled with IBS, I've had some near misses and I hate it.

Every month without fail. It makes me so miserable knowing what's coming. Then the fear of being at work (toilet close to office) or out in public and getting to a toilet on time.

The Joy's!

Whatisthisfuckery · 17/02/2020 17:10

I don’t get it now, but when I was in my early teens when I’d just started I got it. A few times I followed through without warning, at school. It was fucking awful, I’d spend the entire day with skidders and be completely paranoid.

inwood · 17/02/2020 17:14

Awful. And I have IBS d. Can never tell whether its cramps or diarrhoea and then get into an anxiety circle that results in diarrhoea anyway. 💩 not fun.

Whatisthisfuckery · 17/02/2020 17:15

Sorry, wasn’t clear, I used to get it just before I came on, so not wearing a towel. Shitty kecks all day and I was terrified of farting. I was too scared to say anything because I thought there was something wrong with me or I’d be laughed at. I didn’t know period shits was a thing until a couple of years ago. I’m now 37. People are embarrassed to talk about periods, let alone the shits.

toysoldier · 17/02/2020 17:23

@inwood it's exactly the same scenario for me

@Maighdeann Beer shits are just the worst ..

whydoihavetogothroughsomuch · 18/02/2020 11:15

Same op I have to take Imodium Blush

Talulahbeige · 18/02/2020 11:19

Can I just say thank you all! It’s lovely to know others have the same.

I thought it was just me, whenever I mention it to the dr she looks at me like I’ve lost the plot. It’s been happening to me since I had my child

Hellabove5 · 18/02/2020 16:19

Periods shits is really a thing

burntpinky · 19/02/2020 14:23

I’m in the two week wait and have just had the shits. I think this is going to be another month of no joy

QuestionableMouse · 19/02/2020 14:26

The same hormones that cause cramps work on your bowel too so you get period shits.

I know when I'm due because I get awful lower back pain.

TheVanguardSix · 19/02/2020 14:27

It's just gross, isn't it? Period shits are just so messy on top of messy. Ugh!
31 years of this shit, literally. And the wind! I am like a bag o' winds on my period. I need some sort of sphincter clamp.

ImTheCaddy · 19/02/2020 15:11

Yup. I hear ya. Mine is marginally better since I had a major op and they discovered that my womb, ovaries and bowel were completely fused together by adhesions and scarring. They picked it apart and it does seem to have helped.

It took me decades to realise that a lot of my menstrual discomfort was actually bowel related!

itsgettingweird · 19/02/2020 15:16

I usually was 2-3 days in and I'd get the most awful poo! Just kept coming and the smell 😫

Also had extremely heavy periods and huge clots but started the mini pill in December. Had 2 periods 3 weeks apart and each lasting 10 days but they weren't my usual ones. Now haven't had one for 6 weeks. Grin fingers crossed they've stopped

fizzymango · 19/02/2020 15:20

Urgh I hate this. When I used to have a natural cycle on days 1-2 I’d be in the loo not knowing which end to wipe first Envy (not envy)
I’m on the mini pill now so I only have the odd, light spotting-type bleed but I still get the constipation before I bleed and then free-flowing bowels during Grin it’s when my poos change from constipated to free-flowing that I know the mini period is imminent.

JoJothesquirrel · 19/02/2020 15:21

I have been to the loo approx 15 times today, even my very dopey colleague is beginning to notice. There should be a leave category for not actually sick but can’t stop shitting and farting due to periods. Also I only want to eat things made of flour and coated in grease.

Chops2017 · 19/02/2020 15:22

I get this too and a shooting pain up my bum absolutely agony xx

PencilFace · 19/02/2020 15:28

I also get this, not sure if this has been mentioned but have you ever tried prescription strength co-codamol? Very effective for pain and also slows down the bowels, I wouldn't be without it now.

NikittaBizarre · 04/03/2020 20:25

I had a full pre period clear out today in workEnvy

Positivegal21 · 20/03/2020 13:47

Hi all I have to ask because so seen it somewhere at the beginning of the thread. Does anyone here suffer with endo? I have just been diagnosed and would be nice to know someone that isn’t completely doom and gloom over it x
