We are stuck in again...posting here for traffic. Needing ideas on what to do when indoors all day with a hyper 16 month old with a short attention span.

Most likely the 16 month old won't care 1 jot about going out into the rain.

Swimming

Messy play then a long bath. Building a cosy den. TV. Wrap up and go for a walk once wind dies down a bit. Invite friends or family round to share the load. Look at books together.

Have you tried cooking? As long as you’re not too fussy over a bit of mess and things likely not turning out gourmet it can be great fun. Basically your dc will taste, ‘mix’ (ie fling a spoon around Grin) and get their hands into everything. I used to sit my dd in a high chair with a small basin of soapy water and let her wash up the unbreakables. Lots of towels on the floor.

Biscuits are a good one, especially the decorating after. There’s a really good cookbook called tickle fingers that breaks down recipes by age/competency and highlights what the dc can do.

Brave the rain? My toddlers LOVE being out all weathers.

Waterproofs and puddle jumping. Also all outdoor attractions will be empty so will be blissful.

@dootball @Dipi79 @OrwenOrdduOrgoch unfortunately as our area was flooded last week, there’s a lot of contaminated water and mud around still. He’s still at that age where he puts most things into his mouth. Our area is still on an amber flood warning from last night, although it’s only drizzling now.

If it's only drizzling, with no chance of flying debris, just wrap up and go for a walk. If you're worried about mud and puddles, put him in a pushchair. Head to a coffee shop, to feed the ducks, to watch trains, whatever you've got in your area. Soft play and leisure centres will be open as usual.
