My 8year old son as just being invited to a friends house to play for a few hours. I am wondering as I do not know how these things work. Do I need to take something with me when I drop him off? That is, maybe a bouquet of flowers for the host mum? 🤦🏽‍♀️ I am completely clueless about these things. Help pls. son (8years old) has just been invited to his friend's house for a few hours

Has he not had a play date before?

Maybe just send him with a packet of biscuits or sweets to share or something.

That's a nice thought, I'm sure she would appreciate flowers but not strictly necessary. You can offer to reciprocate and have the other child to play in a couple of weeks, that's what I normally do.

Orangedaisy · 15/02/2020 15:12

Would usually take a packet of biscuits or a snack for the children to share.

BrutusMcDogface · 15/02/2020 15:13

Yup to snack or biscuits. I’d be a bit taken aback by a bunch of flowers! Nice, but completely unnecessary.

Just return the favour another time and as others have said maybe send him over with sweets to share. Flowers not necessary.

Flowers would be over the top and the mum would feel she has to reciprocate if you host a play date another time. If you want to take something PPs suggestion of a packet of party rings or something would be good.
