Giving money for fundraising for colleagues kids at work

AIBU to be fed up of keep giving money for colleagues collections at work. Since the start of the year I must have given at least £30 in for raffle tickets for colleagues kids at work for stuff like raising money so they can go on trips blah de blah.
I would never expect my colleagues to contribute and I don't know how I can get out of it. Or am I just being out of order?

In Australia it's common for the fund raising to be chocolates. Typically at work boxes will show up in the kitchen. Then it's up to people if they feel like a choccie or not - just put your $1 in the envelope when you get one. No hard sell, which is good IMO.

It sure as hell is begging. The parents should be coughing up for thier kids to go on these trips. Or as previous poster said. The kids should get a job to raise the money

We used to get this at work all the time - even printed sheets with your name already on it, next to the ‘amount given’ box!!😡
It came to a stop when one lady from another dept ‘went off sick’ with the money... just long enough for people to forget about it all. Some of us didn’t forget... so if it ever crops up now, one of us will say ‘ooh no!, remember Sharon and the missing money?’

I just say "I do my own charitable donations privately".

We get a lot of fundraising done at work from the students so I'm happy to chip into a car wash they do, or have a coffee when students run a coffee morning or run a talent show etc. I've never got involved in sponsoring other people's children who aren't friends with me out of work.
