AIBU to think Sainsburys broccoli and tomato quiche is a let down

I'm normally not fussy and eat most things and hate food waste. Just bought a tomato and broccoli quiche from Sainsbury’s and it is awful. All in date and warmed as per instructions but it tastes rank! I ate it though. Just wondered if any MNetters had tried it and thought the same?

It doesn’t actually taste of anything - it’s quite bizzare.

For a good quiche you need a pint of double cream and about a dozen eggs, also half a pound of mature cheese. This how my French auntie prepared them Grin

A sad sainsbury version can never live up to this. I have learned.

So many things that should be absolutely delicious and indulgent are so sad when bought from Sainsbo & Co Sad

@Connie222 I know, right? Even after extra seasoning it just doesn't have any flavour?!

@TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead sounds indulgent (but delicious)! I think next time I will just have an omelette! Sans any broccoli

YANBU. They are proper nasty. The tomato carry on looks like a crime scene.

WhereShallWeMoveTo · 14/02/2020 19:37

Well broccoli and tomato sounds a bit shit to start with. Quiche needs at least one big flavour in it. Cheese, smoked salmon, feta, bacon, something.

Just veg is boring.

WhiskersPete · 14/02/2020 19:38

ALL supermarket quiche is a bland let down. You have to make it yourself if you want it to be half decent. Even then it's less than inspiring.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 14/02/2020 19:39

Sainsburys did an amazing brie and cranberry quiche at Christmas. We stocked up and now there's just one left in the freezer Sad

cologne4711 · 14/02/2020 19:40

I actually like that one! Oh well. I can't be the only one because other people buy them!

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 14/02/2020 21:14

Eggs, broccoli and tomato. That's culinary hell. I do like the taste of cheese and onion quiche but just can't bring myself to eat it due to the eggs 🤢

BeeFarseer · 14/02/2020 21:15

All these quiche-hating posters.

Give quiche a chance.

MollysMummy2010 · 20/02/2020 20:35

Looks like everyone did run Bee! I love quiche but only home made

recklessruby · 20/02/2020 22:19

I ve had that. Never again. It s horrible and watery and the brocolli was nasty as was the tomato.
Couldn't finish it and it gave me massively uncomfortable indigestion later. Envy not envy

Iusedtobeapartygirl · 20/02/2020 22:23

Homemade quiche is about a million times nicer. As is most homemade food compared to shop bought.

Just another annoying thing I have learned in my 45 years. Such as that in general, expensive things are better. This particularly annoys me.

ChristmasCarcass · 20/02/2020 22:27

Agree, homemade quiche is delicious. Cafe/restaurant quiche (that they’ve made onsite) also almost always really tasty.

Why supermarket quiche is universally rank, I have no idea. But it absolutely always is.
